Thread regarding L3Harris Technologies layoffs

Should we be worried?

I keep going back and forth on whether I should be genuinely worried about more layoffs or if this is just the usual background anxiety that comes with working here. Is there actual reason for concern, like something concrete, or am I just winding myself up for nothing?

@wc That's one way to look at it. The flip side is that none of what has happened since BB left would have been possible without BB letting CK and crew into the h-nhouse. I would argue that alone earns BB the negative vibes.

@w5 Interesting that so many former L3 employees loved to hate on BB. Looking at what has happened at L3H since he left and how he is doing at 3M perhaps he wasn't as bad as they thought!

@fh Nexus article from July 20, 2026 - "Space Force Declares Meadowlands System Operationally Accepted"

Did L3H defraud the government by falsely certifying the system as "operational"?

@OP The time for worrying was in 2019 when L3 and Harris merged to create L3Harris. After BB left, CK got a big head and wanted to show the world how effective of a leader he can be. The disastrous Aerojet and TDL acquisitions in 2023 were the final nail in the coffin for L3Harris longterm financial stability and business performance (excluding executive compensation by milking L3H dry). CK and the board developed a strategy study in 2023/2024 with BB as a special outside advisor to determine the path forward. How bad of a F% up is it when they had to bring back a former CEO in less than 2 years from his departure to provide business strategy guidance?

At this point, layoffs, product line sales, IPOs of failed/cash strapped businesses, business divestitures, and other ways to generate cash through financial enginnering and accounting games are the future of L3H until it is sold of in pieces and/or as a whole. L3H has destroyed its reputation and that of its predecessors by underperforming or failing on any and most contracts. L3H is bidding on anything available and is still failing to secure major contracts. The only prime in L3H will ever be is "sub-prime."

My advice to you and others is to get your financial house in order, put yourself out there for new roles in a stable company and move on immediately when the right opportunity presents itself for you and your family. Do not play the counter offer games or provide advance notice of your new career/job search. Accept the offer at a better company and move on ASAP with no regrets.

If no one has told you they love you today, I love you and God loves you.

GOD BLESS YOU!

RTX consists of Raytheon, Collins Aerospace and Pratt and Whitney. They’re getting all the good contracts lately because L3harris can’t deliver. Verizon won the FAA Enterprise Network Services multi billion dollar (FENS) contract. L3harris lost as usual. Move on….

Kubasik is running the company into the ground. Absolutely nothing in that skull, just air.

Yes you should be worried. Q2 results will be announced soon and that will lead to further reductions.

@pc To be clear, that was almost a direct quote from leadership (JL) to us in a town hall.

When leadership thinks losing a generational program when we were the ONLY legacy equipment provider of the current system is ok, you know L3H leadership is abysmal.

You are correct. These people should be in the next layoff.

Anyone going to layoff CK, SM, EZ, DZ and other executives?

Inquiring minds want to know.

@kp Is that what you say to the leadership when we don't get a contract??
"We really didn't want that business"
Of course we always spend time and money bidding on business we don't want. The next layoff should fire people who do that.

@k1 We really didn't want that business. We have many more growth opportunities! - JL - former president of a division (who is no longer at L3H)

This is not a joke. That was almost a direct quote from "leadership" when we lost out on a generational program.

@fh " The U.S. Space Force announced it has awarded three Ground-Based Radar Digitization agreements to Raytheon, SciTec Innovations, and WildStar worth a combined $423.4 million (about $423 million) over approximately two years. The firm-fixed-price prototype other transaction agreements will be performed in Woburn, Massachusetts; Princeton, New Jersey; and Arlington, Texas, respectively."
Tough luck L3HARRIS. (Again).

@fh Tricks of the trade. Project confidence on award so work can start Day 1. Win and you're golden. Lose, just lay people off.
Last thing they want to do is win and award and not be prepared for it.

I've had 6 managers in 2 years. Worst place I've worked so far since graduating 15 years ago.

@fd respectfully I don't think that's case when you wrote, "It means nobody worthwhile wants the job." My managers have been motivated, knowledgeable and have made progress on our corporate goals. The people swapping them around arbitrarily when they change those goals every 6 months are the issue.

Corporate spins on a dime. After all, you can trust them to disrupt us.

Colorado Springs was counting on winning the GBRD contract. Mgmt has said over and over again they were 100% confident we were going to win part of it. Well, it was announced today that we didn't. There's not much left here to keep the company going. Mosaic is slowly dying. CCS is over soon. Meadowlands is a sh-t show that will be milked until the Government decides to go with someone that can actually make it work.

The common thread in this thread is that leadership keeps changing. It's not normal to have multiple bosses over a short period of time. There is some dysfunctionality in an organization where that happens. It means nobody worthwhile wants the job.
It's why the company has resorted to internal promotions of under qualified people.

Manager has hinted that layoffs are likely coming end of October / November to clear house before the end of the year, just told.to be ready. I'm currently dusting off my CV and plan to start applying elsewhere when back from holidays. Su-ks too because I've only been here less than two years.

People sit around waiting on Mehta to make another d-mb move ! Driving the company and employees into the ground. Bad morale right now it’s sad

You can get blindsided anywhere in a corporate job and end up on the dole.

L3Harris grew fast and they still have layers of dead weight management. I've been here 3 years and have had 5 bosses. I still do the same job. Corporate can't [any verb here] it's way out of a wet paper bag. We have contracts in my BU and most importantly NEW contracts.

When the NEW dries up I'll update my resume. I've got a family to support. Government work feels the steadiest right now with the d-mb speculation in AI and other current events. L3Harris is meh and I'll drop them like a hot potato on the upswing after the AI bubble pops.

Always be worried about layoffs. You can not trust anyone or anything there. The second you feel safe, is when they pull the rug out. So never let yourself feel safe.

Depends what project you are working on, what location. Everyone, everyday, should consider today might the the last day.

Me? whatever. I'm the critical cog in the launch of a new product. If they dump me, good luck bringing it to market. I can find a new job in a week.

I’ve struggled a lot with this too. Since January everything just feels uncertain. My newest boss (3rd this year) is all eager and keeps saying how there’s so much work and we’ll be hiring people. I’m also fairly certain he has zero idea what it is the team does.

I am still on the fence if it’s the right move, but I’ve accepted an offer and will probably be leaving. If not, it’s just till the right offer comes along.

I think long term, the company will continue to be broken up and sold or closed. I don’t know what will happen to our team, but given that work keeps seeming to be given away, taken over, or duplicated by know nothings, it’s likely best to not stick around to find out.
