There were rumors about possible layoffs next week. How concerned should I actually be?

@b8 you ain't alone in that. It feels like there is no actual plan, just some horrible executive meeting in which they say, "Oh, just another goal missed? Don't worry, we know exactly what to do!" Then they go into a dark room, speak an incantation, spin their poorly constructed spread sheet and start setting up meetings to lay off key people with no thought to the consequences.
Every Sunday night I worry if I will have my job this week.
