I submitted for the VSP. As things kept getting pushed back I started looking for work. New job wants me to start August 3rd. Still no word from Centene. Submitted my resignation yesterday. No severance but I am so ready to move forward. Best of luck to the rest of you.

@hw thank you for the insight as I have been getting hits from recruiters. Send my email and then get inundated with spam for lenders ? Never connected. Thought maybe was credit karma so I am stopping that nonsense and never hear back.
Thank you for the insight. Yes recruiters are 'questionable' I've had a few reach out to me about a job, they provide very little information but want a resume. I started asking questions about a role they mentioned, but couldn't give me a job description, start date or anything about it but insisted I send my resume. Needless to say, they didn't contact me again. I'm assuming it's because they never really had a job but wanted my info to build their database. I'm glad I didn't send them my resume.
I will start looking at company websites and apply there. Sometimes I wonder if having 'Centene' on my resume is an omen in itself. Bad reputation, lawsuits don't look good.
@hs I agree with this method of searching company’s career pages directly. Unfortunately, even the popular job sites, when you create an account and upload your resume, mostly just gets you on an email list where you get all these companies that have suspect names that you have never heard of and cannot even find anything about when doing a browser search. Most of these are offering contract jobs (supposedly) with pay ranges that are very far apart where on the high end are too good to be true and on the low end are insulting. And once again, because they are so suspicious, I personally would not even feel comfortable applying and giving any of my personal information. Also, on these job sites, once you upload your information, which includes your email address and phone number, you begin getting all kinds of spam emails and texts, including “debt relief” assistance.
Just saying, be careful and be on guard with what personal information as to whom you share it with. The internet is now the wild wild west and protecting your personal information, at least the best you can, is of utmost importance.
Applying directly on company’s career page is a much safer way to go.
@hp I go directly to company sites and apply - type in the org and “careers” and it should bring you right there. I have never found LinkedIn or Glassdoor helpful for a job search.
Congratulations on getting work. I am too taking the VSP, I cannot stay and work in this environment even if I didn't take the VSP, the work situation afterwards is going to be worse. Micro managing, overloaded work and less employees to handle it. I have worked at this company for 10 years and been out of the job market for that long, everything is different out there. It gives me hope that there are companies hiring and people are able to leave this toxic environment. Anyone have suggestions websites where you have found jobs to apply? Desperate to look besides LinkedIn and Glassdoor.
Terrible decision. Cash out make it to the near end make them pay you. You are valuable. The staggered folks have already been reached out to. The ending date will be 9/4 and that's not far away. Congratulations and best wishes though.
You made the right decision because even if you were to get VSP you don’t know the date when you will be done with Centene yet, as they are now staggering the end dates, and you can’t get the VSP payout unless you work until that scheduled end date. Waiting to find a job until you are paid out with VSP is not smart especially with the economy. Best of luck in your new position.
@d9 You made the wise decision to just move on. You are correct about by the time the lump sum would get taxed, it looks paltry. A few months with your new company and you will probably recoup all of the lost opportunity but still have a continuing new opportunity and steady pay.

@d2 I also got a new position and you have to work within the timeframe of when they need you to start. Not starting until after 9/4 would not have worked. Most people could be well on the way to being trained and contributing by that date.
Sometimes it’s just better to move on. By the time that lump sum is taxed, would not have been worth jeopardizing a new start.

I have accepted a new role that begins in August 3rd and not yet submitting my resignation until I know what's going to happen next week. If I'm being laid off, it'd be nice to know if there's a small severance. 😂

Congratulations!! I don’t think most people were ready to leave, but the days of retiring at a company are over. Never get comfortable and always look for the next opportunity and do what is best for you.

Congrats! But why would you submit your resignation instead of waiting a few more days? Does this mean you are guaranteed to not get the severance package?

I didn't qualify for VSP. Fortunately I found another job. Now with the announcement that the director and VP over my department are officially no longer with the org I'm happy to be leaving!
