Hope you have your resume ready old timer... Sounds like you really have your blinders on. You probably remember when it was good enough to show up with a resume in a suit and have great interviewing skills, knowledge about the company and a degree.... Well be prepared now you need a professionally written linkedin, recommendations, professional resume to get past the hr software... Networking cards, additional separate more readable resumes tailored to the position, know someone at the company your applying to, and have something Elvis touched. And the money you love so much VZW is paying you.... Say goodbye to half of that... Easy. This isn't your old time job market. I'm not sour...I loved my job.... I worked hard everyday and commutted 2.5 hours a day to do it. The shock of it will hit you when it happens and even though we've told you all this... You will be unprepared, stunned and dumbfounded.
