Comcast stats —> Layoffs/H1-Bs/Offshoring

COMCAST CABLE COMMUNICATIONS, LLC ranks #62 of 9,347 employers tracked on layoff notices in 2026. New titles have been slapped on old, “cut” positions in order to recruit throughout tech hubs overseas. Comcast has 6,740 LCA filings (H1-Bs/offshoring) from FY2015 through FY2026. This isn’t even all of them as more have been done. The median reported wage across these filings is $111,163. Its largest state footprint is Pennsylvania with 3,909 filings. The most common job title on its filings is Software Developers but many tech positions have been hit hard.

Apparently no unemployed, laid off or talented Americans could fill these jobs nor would they appreciate a salary of $111,000 (sarcasm).

@at LCA’s are specific to visas overall. Offshoring is happening outside of these LCA filings. These positions go to giant global capacity centers in India and elsewhere, which is a concern considering there is practically zero USDOL interaction. Comcast is not the only one doing this. Many Fortune 500 companies suddenly changed their ways the last 10 years, but specifically the last few. Restructuring mainly became offshoring and H1-bs. Microsoft, Amazon, IBM, Google, Xbox, etc.

Worth noting for anyone reading, the directional point here is real but the specific numbers don't match the public data. DOL disclosure files (flag.dol.gov) and trackers like MyVisaJobs show Comcast Cable Communications at roughly 4,400 H-1B LCA filings historically, not 6,740, with a median salary around $114K. MyVisaJobs ranked them #64 among sponsors for FY2022-2024, which may be where the #62 figure came from. Also important - LCA filings are not layoff replacements or new hires. They include renewals, transfers, and location changes, and DOL certifies about 3x more LCAs than actual H-1B visas issued. Comcast is not classified as an H-1B dependent employer. The offshoring concern is legitimate but the LCA count is not evidence of it on its own.
