@b2 Yammer is as bad as LinkedIn. It’s just a bunch of self-serving, self-aggrandizing, self flagellating.

There is a lot of redundancy by having both a central communications function and separate country functions. The central function does a lot of planning and posturing but not much communicating. It’s not clear quite what they do. The country functions are fiefdoms with their own priorities and leadership teams. So there’s a lot of duplicative roles with titles that include words like “Head of” “Director” “VP” and “SVP”. There is plenty of headcount in the upper levels that can be reduced but this is BP and the upper levels are protected.

@a3 maybe I’m out of the loop, but what does Thiel have to do with our re-org?

Deep to the bone 🦴. The executive level is keenly aware that something absolutely terrible is about to occur and pre-anticipation and right sizing the company is not for posterity but survival. Peter Thiel has left an indelible impression on oil and gas leadership.
