Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

AI "super bubble" about to burst.

SPACEX was the trigger, we are all in for a world of pain. OpenAI will fall and Oracle will go with it. They cant cut enough heads to make up for the losses, hiding these cuts as "AI innovation" no longer makes sense.

@xg I keep asking this question whenever someone claims Microsoft will buy Oracle in the end but I never get a real answer just down votes.

Why would Microsoft buy the raging tire fire that is Oracle? Oracle doesn't have any technology that Microsoft needs. They would be buying with a company too many employees and a incredible amount of debt.

Give me a hint as to why this would be a good idea for Microsoft...

@tq OpenAI can fail very comfortably. It wont effect anyone at this point, sure some venture capital folks will lose out, and Oracle will likely be bought by Microsoft, but no big loss really.

OpenAI is too big to fail at this point. With the AI race against China, the government will never let it happen. Our tax dollars will bail them out like we didn’t banks and auto industry.

@mw Is this sarcasm or you are being serious? Oracle seem to think that they are building shovels when in reality they are literally the prospectors twirling pans by the river. Like so many other prospectors out there.

Its a real shame because they could have really built a data first foundation to enable headless type of interactions with their apps portfolio from other LLM solutions which would have been a game changer. But this requires technical innovation. Something that they have not had for some time.

Now they are peddling as a data center provider and differentiating on what?

Try to take some satisfaction in the fact that you work at Oracle and are on the cutting edge of AI.

Just waiting for the next 'hot' item to come into fashion. AI will come down with the understanding that the emperor has no clothes.

Oracle insiders are selling large amounts of stock. Just look at the company’s June SEC filings for the details. Heading for the exit.

Oracle (NYSE: ORCL) stock is trading around $150, down nearly 23% year-to-date and about 56% below its 52-week high of $345.72. Despite record-breaking AI demand and a staggering $638 billion backlog, the stock has been pressured by massive capital expenditures (CAPEX), rising debt, and concerns over AI-related workforce restructuring.

An article that quotes hedge fund managers... now there is a group of people who wouldn't say anything that could influence the investments that they have made ...

People have been calling this a bubble for a long time so jumping on the bandwagon now hardly makes them visionaries. As hedge fund managers they could be shorting everything they are talking down.
