Big Restructuring company-wide coming

Will see what are the announcements later today but from emails and news, big changes, hopefully for the better, but I expect big cuts as well coming soon..

@23h For now, it just looks really messy and/or with poor communication towards employees.

@1ck it's going to be ugly. And I'm so sick of hearing, "we don't have to be perfect...". It's basically an excuse for admitting it's going to be ugly. At least this company should try their best to create a sound strategy around this. All I'm hearing is "good enough" and people will suffer for this.

I do not work for Siemens, but I am looking at a job there. AI has completely upended the company where I work. They are cutting jobs left and right and everyone is working on less-than-skeleton teams because leadership is hoping AI is going to fix all their problems. Morale is in the toilet. Is Siemens a good place to work or are things getting bad and is this a bad time to apply for a job there?

@d6 Given the October target, we're compressing an already under-defined process against one of our most important revenue drivers. I've been through significant transformation efforts at large companies (including big tech) -restructuring is normal, and sometimes messy. But there's a difference between accepted ambiguity and avoidable gaps, and right now I'm seeing the latter. I've never experienced something so sloppy.

@ak Last year FT conducted mass layoffs. I was in the office that day it was announced, and I saw two things: 1) colleagues with a zombie face because they were layoff after >20 years of service; 2) very young people, ~20 years old, sent directly from Germany to take manager roles, and laughing and joking in the hallway. Disgusting. Shame on them.

One year after, managers are still in place or have been promoted to higher roles, but most staffs scientists have been replaced by fresh interns. I suppose it is the same in all big corporate companies: a coterie of managers playing with vulnerable employees to advance their career.

Sums up the entire afternoon webcast:
This whole webcast has felt extremely NON-people centric. Joining a webcast to see the senior leadership laugh and joke, discussing AI and job cuts is demoralizing. Working in Tech, AI is a bubble that is about to burst. AI is not everything.
