Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

When is the next surplus?

The people that sit behind me were told to be prepared for an October notification. The impacted headcount would mirror the June surplus. No way to verify the accuracy of this report. My manager said she hasn't heard any speculation coming down. Anyone heard anything specific?

@bm ...Not getting rid of sales, just direct W2 sellers, and relying more on 3rd party solution partners sellers dealer agents, and integrators,-today on a sale T may pay a SAL, CSE, ASC, TSC, and an SP, and that's just the front line sellers, now add the management layers above. Gettting rid of W2 sellers saves T a huge amount of money, salaries & dual comp commisions obviosuly, but also healtcare beneftis, 401K matches and pensiions where they are still a thing,.

The deeper in debt you are the greater the chance of being affected.

Word is they are going to try and unload the Indian work force before the Fed targets their investigation.

@bb So, AT&T is going to grow revenue by getting rid of sales, and sales support. Seems like a true growth strategy.

Look for the next big round of layoffs around Sept of this year, the end of the fiscal year-is Dec 31st and T likes to show those adjusted numbers for the final quarter going into the end of the year. 2027 will see a lot more consolidation which is why the Plano Campus is being fast-tracked, there will be a big push to offload staff prior to the opening of Plano. Hearing that sales and support roles will be hit hard as T looks to get rid of dual comp and move away from direct sellers in MM, GES, Fed-Gov and FirstNet and will focus on SPs, overlay rolls like ASCs and TSCs will be cut, with some of those rolls being outsourced off-shore.

Numerous orgs cutting in Sep/Oct.

2027 and 2028 will make the last few years look like nothing. 25-30% will be cut over 2 years.

Stank thinks you are useless.

Who cares at this point?

Why fret about it? Assuming you want to stay, keep your head down and keep grinding.

If you want to leave, volunteer for the next one.

But by all means do not sit and grouse and worry about "the next one".

Because they aren't stopping.

Aug off roll Sep. Oct off roll Nov. Dec off roll end of year. Merry Christmas from Stank in his cartoon holiday PJs.

If you are a manager layoffs can be any day of the week any week of the year any month of the year and quarter of the year. If you are unionized, it tends to be quarterly the middle of the month that ends the quarter before the quarter they are off payroll.
