@ec I got my meeting invite two minutes before the call. The layoff.” script.” was read to me. The call lasted five minutes, and I was laid off always a Thursday. Yesterday the 23rd Optum/United health group had their little layoff.

@gt pft Optum hiring you better know what they're doing... No Optum lays people off so they can offshore the jobs for pennies on the dollar. Stop Lying to us. They're not mass laying off people in the Philippines they're mass laying off people in the US because we cost too much. They literally pay them barely anything compared to a US employee and they'd only have to care about the The insurance stuff because they're in a country that has some type of low end national health care That's terrible. So please don't talk bad about my people that are there working their as--s off and are being let go only because they are in the US who are just earning a big paycheck all lies

@h1 yes GTS will be laying off some but not by much right now it's what I heard. In fact they are hiring and pay is also good but EXTREMELY hard to get into FTE tech roles there due to massive competition and tech pool with no work they can hire better someone externally for lower

ETIPS, getting rid of people hanging out for 10+ years with nothing to show or contribute. I was told they are finally getting rid of people quietly earning big bucks doing nothing and hiring people that actually know tech/operations. So the count will not go down drastically

I haven't heard of anything happening today. Has anyone been impacted? Obviously just because I haven't seen or heard of anything doesn't mean that there's not something going on.

Our senior director in India (UHC tech) doesnt even pretend to have any idea whats going on. Will be asking TDP level questions to a room of GL 28 and 29

@dd Fun fact. In my department, a woman was found to be having her husband do her job, in India, and subsequently fired. I think Indias business practices and nepotism will catch up. It's not compatible with the US business practices. This isn't racist, this is a fact.

The around 2/3 comment is totally valid for senior managers and assoc/directors. I was just looking at all the people I connected with on LinkedIn from my time at Optum spanning close to 4 years. There were constant layoffs from the time I started. I'd say about 30-40 percent of the total people on the UX research and design team are no longer with Optum. It is way higher for more senior-level people closer to 2/3. Good times. When I compare the on-shore vs. offshore connections it is not even close. Mostly all off-shore Ireland and India are still employed.

My 1 on 1 is cancelled for tomorrow but my manager is free at that time. I'm probably getting RIFed. I guess I'll join the other 2/3 of the people I've known at Optum who have been let go in the past 2 years.

I am happy to say I don’t have to worry about layoffs for a while and can rest easy right now. For now.

Yes. Expect them between tomorrow and 7/30. They layoff on the last week of the month also.
