VSP accepted for 8/27/2027 - what the heck?!

@ay same here. I got Mar 2027- I'm not sticking around- I was planning to quit in Dec and $ was just the cherry on top. I feel they did it on purpose- so people will just quit without any severance.
su-kers
@ax that is exactly what is going to happen! I am so over all of it! If I am fired well then it’s a sign to move on!
How is it mandated employment? I thought it explicitly stated “you will remain an at will employee.” My date is 11/2027, which is a joke. I plan to quit in by Oct 1 anyways. Additional $$$ to quit was just a cherry on top lol butttttt looks like that won’t be happening
And jusssssssst wait until the new goals come out that you have to insert into your little WorkDay page. Your new job expectations are about to be insane with hopes that you can never meet a single metric and they can get rid of you and your VSP as soon as they feel like it .
OP that is rough. New level of cruelty.
@af all of these far out dates is just to punish most who took the VSP. You will be on the target list from now until your end date and in hopes you will either a) leave for another position, b) terminate under work violations. So the outcome is they won’t have to pay out anything and they have you at their demise. Good luck interviewing for a job and explaining you can’t start til August of 2027. They really did us all dirty!
@aq how can they do layoffs with all these different acceptance dates
What if they sell, or partially sell, the company? Are out VSP’s null and void?
@aq Yeah, the problem with having a VSP separation date, say a year out, they are not guaranteeing you will get to the VSP payout; just in a sense guaranteeing that is the soonest they are willing to payout for VSP (if you survive that long).
They still could fire you for “not performing your duties, by using a PIP performance measurement that simply cannot be attained. And then not have to pay you anything.
@an with dates this late I wonder when they will determine lay offs
@am At the very least, I would consider calling an employment attorney to see of there is an employment law that addresses something like this.
I just got my notice and I want to throw up. My application was accepted and my last day is in November of 2027. I thought this was my way out. I'm so burnt out. I can't wait over 450 days.
I am going to say something that is probably going to be very unpopular. But it seems as though many of you are correct, they had way too many VSP volunteers so they have pushed the end dates way out in areas that they did not intend do layoffs. At least at this time. That way it buys them some time for folks to either leave/quit or get terminated. They could then replace those folks with lower wage personnel. Just thinking out loud.
@ah sorry! This whole thing is a slap in the face!
@a1 Yes, they are adjusting accordingly
Mine is November 12, 2027!!!
Oh wait I misread! August 2027! That's ridiculous!
BH UM. I also have August 2027. I have a new job lined up to start this September. So I will just be quitting. This is so disappointing to be accepted but then the end date is 13 months away.
@a1 yes! My letter says yes
@ab how much later? Dec 2027?
@a8 same!
@OP your lucky some of us are approved but for a way later date 😢
This is ridiculous! The joke amount of money that this severance is offering is not worth staying a year on pins and needles with metrics!
I'm sorry for laughing but that's kind of hilarious. "Oh you're not leaving us just yet pal" lmao
OP here, I ranked my dates with the earliest date as #1 and then lowest as the latest date. So they simply ignored my date ranking. I’m in Auth.
I got May 2027 as a date. I’m livid
OUCH!! I'm so sorry.. that su-ks!!
@a1 it does say it will be adjusted until June 30th 2027.
@OP that seems like the opposite of being laid off? Over a year of mandated employment??
@OP me too and I am devastated! I cannot do another year I am so upset!
Can you share what dept you're in?
For these extended dates, are they adjusting the VSP packages?
