The Lay Off Waiting Room

It's an excellent point made by a poster below. Many are hoping to cash out for the severance and feel entitled to do so. There is no disagreement with that. The sturm und drang has been real. Employees have earned that money. Now, they weigh whether hanging on for it will result in actually getting it. With the advent of the Cognizent bait and switch, it's a hard calculation. One colleague decided to bail after being je-ked around long enough.

Will there be severance !?! If you are re-badged, you work for cognizant and they owe you nothing.

@ak it's a real kaleidoscope of choices that is extremely subjective. The competition for jobs is real and worth careful consideration.

@OP I wrestled with exactly that. Feeling like I was owed a severance. The problem is that if you wait it out and get it, you're going to end up competing against all of the other people that also got let go for the same jobs. IMO, the long term benefits of finding something sooner than later outweigh getting a severance.
