Are stored locomotives ever gonna hit the rails again?
Just a logical question, I suppose. The fact is that locomotives that are in operation are barely maned as it is. Many put out of operation. Guess that UP will have to hire more employees if it ever wants to put all of its resources in operation. We... — read more
UP is losing its talent
Where did the talent go? Is there any talent left? Will they be hiring any new talent? Was there ever really any talent, just wondering.

Anyone with 20+ years thought of leaving or have left?
Just wondering. I’m going on 21 years. Been thinking about putting my feelers out and see what’s out there. I’ve daylight Sat/Sun off for the past 12 years. Now due to all the cuts we’re losing weekend jobs every time they lay-off or someone quits... — read more

We will all get cut in one way or another
Call me pessimistic, but I think that we will all turn out to be victims of this process in the end. Weather we’ll get laid off, furloughed, or maybe we will get overworked to the breaking point, which will make us leave on our own. All and oll there... — read more

Can a furloughed person get laid off?
And if he can get laid off is that something that is done in practice? I haven’t seen that situation ever. I figure, if they wanted to cut someone they would do it right away instead of putting him on furlough.
Who thought that abandoning the practices that made us a good company was a good idea?
In all honesty I can’t understand all of these changes, much less the need to go through with them in the first place. We were a good company as it is, we were profitable as it is and now we’re being stripped to the bone. Is it possible that we let... — read more
