Do you think there may be small/medium/large Ametek layoffs? Any chatter, news or rumors?

The STC branch has had two 3 week furloughs in four months for "non-essential" employees... like sales, engineering, customer service, and inspection. Right before Christmas too. Heard they are leaving left and right. I feel for those that are still... —  read more

As a user of Ametek products, all I can say is I wish I wasn't. I haven't seen cr-p til I fooled with their products. They make Yugos look like a Honda. The initial quality of the instruments is pathetic..it makes me scratch my head since those... —  read more 

Last year they furloughed people in April to make up a deficit they had in revenue. This year they are charging customers a surcharge to make up a deficit. Next is another furlough

This particular business unit is dying. They have had little growth over the past 10 years and given that they are highly concentrated in the oil and gas industry as well as the coal power industry their business continues to shrink. Layoffs already... —  read more 

Friend just spoke with his boss, who said they are laying him off. They are paying thru May 1, giving 2 weeks severance, plus any sick time.
