PSA

For all of you who were recently laid off, it is in your best interest to speak with a lawyer before signing your separation agreement.

How's bonus?

Let's give location, grade, base, and bonus % of base. I'll start. NYC, grade J, $150k, $50k bonus. Flat vs last, no base increase

Not valued as professionals

It is so sad to work in a system which doesn't appreciate hard working people, and leaves us with no satisfaction from professional achievements. I feel that the only agency I am left with is to quit. Otherwise, I feel reduced to office supplies... — read more

Undercover Boss Experiment

I think it would be an interesting activity if BNYM did some sort of an undercover boss type of thing in the organization. Maybe not the CEO, but someone underneath to report back some findings to change things. Also be sure to assign them to teams... — read more

HR sessions?

What HR sessions are you guys referring to? I haven’t sent any. I need to understand the sub pay. For instance if it’s 2000 in biweekly, do bnym pay for all 2000 and then I can apply for UE?

Redundancy payments?

Is it the case that Dublin still on generous redundancy yet Cork only on the statutory amount only?

Hamilton is not the Founder

Funny how they preach that Hamilton is the founder. Hamilton founded BNY. Mellon founded Mellon. Neither exists anymore. Such falsities. Maybe more should start to preach that and really twist their pa-ties.

Just staying out of the news

Plenty of big banks laying folks off. Think BNY does it quarterly so they can stay out of the news like the others don’t?

Earnings

Any comments about the bank's earnings?

Not affected by the layoffs, be QUIET

Unless you’ve gone through this process recently or are going through it now, I think those of us who have been affected would appreciate if you’d keep your obnoxious comments to yourself. Many of us have had a long tenure with BNYM, many of us were... — read more

What’s the process?

I was terminated and waiting for the documents. What I’m reading here is confusing. Bnym will provide the severance package which I would need to sign. Then I would get the severance pay or is it sub pay? Because it’s two different things. Severance... — read more

Sub pay and unemployment same thing

I was laid off on the 8th and this was my first job. My manager told me it would be 8 weeks of pay after, but I am unsure if this is something have to file for with unemployment or is it automatically given after agreeing to the separation?

Welcome to the group

To all of you hit by the recent layoffs, you’re one of many over the past 10+ years to feel this way. You will survive. You might just find it better on the other side. BNY hasn’t changed at all. They have been doing this for a long time. You... — read more

RV Kool Aid email about results

I just love being called “high performing yet human culture”, and being listed last in the 3 attributes. Pretty much tells me how employees are not valued, just another thing to this corporation, an expense, not assets. Largest class of early in... — read more

Tracking IP

We still have a handful of people in our area that badge and leave or leave at 9am- 10am. I thought they were tracking IP’s or is it just to target individuals? Our manager hasn’t said a word so was just curious if it’s even happening. — read more

Q4 Results - More Roman Failure

No wonder Gru is laying off people all over the place. He continues to bleed the life out of Securities Services. How is he getting away with this? Whose photos does he have in a locked drawer? Look at the 4Q results - they speak for... — read more

Separation Documents - Devil is in the details

The portal storing your documents is not BNYM. This service has been outsourced to a group that is using scripts. Be sure to change your search engine to remove blockers or the documents won’t open. I spent some time getting mine to open. Store... — read more

Outplacement Service

Has anyone that’s gone through the separation process with BNYMellon found any value in using the outplacement services that’s provided as an optional benefit?

Protracted layoffs distress

I hate this period of protracted layoffs. Nobody is telling us when it is going to end, so we have days of stress and uncertainty. You are doing your best to do your work/tasks, but it may be pointless. Halfway through you may be let go. There is... — read more

Stock price VS layoffs…connect the dots

If layoffs are keeping the stock price at a high, it’s really pathetic. Business wise there hasn’t been much and hence employees were chopped off, conveniently. If anyone is interested at all, link to results call... — read more

Layoff and got new role

I got laid off end of last year, few weeks later I found out that there is new role opening (lower grade) in the same department. I am so frustrated and disappointed on my manager who never help / think to redeploy me. People in bnym is nice but I’m... — read more

Question About My Bonus and 401K match!!

I got laid off on January 8. But my separation date will start on January 22 and last for 12 weeks. I just worked seven months with BNY. Because of my position, I got 12 weeks of SUB pay. My question is, Will I get my 401k match? My year-end... — read more

How much is the sub pay amount?

I worked 7 years and got 16 week is sub pay. I keep asking about the actual sub amount per pay period and they keep beating around the bush. Does anyone know if the SUB pay will be around the same (if not a bit more) than our regular paycheck prior... — read more

"Ask Me Anything" Town Halls

Is it me or coincidence that time runs out on the Town Hall meetings...so, we don't get a chance to "Ask me Anything" like feedback about the 401k match once the following year AND the accrued vacation not paid even if laid off (confirmed by HR) ? ... — read more

Older employees affected disproportionally

It feels like older employees have once again been affected more than other age groups. I'm talking about people over fifty. Has anybody else noticed this or is this just specific to my group?

Merit raise and bonus

Do they inform employees of both next week? Anyone find out early? Raises effective March 1? Do they retropay for first 2 months?

Life isn't fair

But it's not fair for anyone; so maybe that makes it fair. I was laid off in this round. It's a humbling experience. We can't control the things that people do to us, but we don't have to let those things diminish us. I've made a decision to walk in... — read more

Being laid off is not the end

After being laid off twice before, I just want to tell everybody who is now in a similar situation that you will be okay. Take a few well deserved weeks to figure out what you want to do. Review your finances to get you some idea of what you need to... — read more

I'm hoping it's not over

Not for other people, but for myself. I'm still hoping to get my notification. I'd rather walk away with severance than stay and have to work twice as much for the same pay - and I've already been severely overworked for months. If I'm not laid off... — read more
