Hey everyone! Does anyone have any recent job interview tips? It’s been a long time since I last interviewed, so I’m feeling a bit rusty. Please post some tips if you have any!

Recommendations for a Life Coaching Counselor:(
I really wish they would have a counselor or someone to help us navigate through this because some of us are so unsure what to do. We got some people who are like "what's the big deal" 🙄 Then we got some people who are like "what just happened" 😳
Then we have some people who are awake and feeling like "what's about to happen!"
Wishing everyone out there peace and happiness and guidance for what's best for them and their family.

Are you finding new roles?
Has anyone who was let go in February had success in finding new work? If so, do you have any pointers or resources you found useful?
Trying not to get discouraged but it’s feeling impossible in this market
LHH
Anyone working with LHH that was JE’d? Are they helping? Did you find employment using their service?
Lee Hech Harrison.
This LHH service seems to be a little value. It seems that the voice mode of one of these LLM‘s commercially provided as better. And what’s up with this $20 million fund has anyone actually heard anything about that about what it is and how to enroll it? I’m tempted just to ask for the cash.
For those that are hanging out here after going through it, do you find these outplacement services to actually be a value or is it just a way for corporations to make themselves feel better?
Also really happy to be doing migrations of applications all the way up to 15th. Really happy to have everyone reaching out for things to be documented when it wasn’t a priority year prior. This is wonderful. What is it almost there we’re almost fricking there good fricking riddance.
Your job isn’t a marriage — it’s a lea
Your job isn’t a marriage it’s a lease. And like any lease, you’re allowed to check in and decide if it still fits; if not, move on. For the past 30 years, it’s worked out fine for me, which is why I’m still there. There’s no need to complain. If you aren’t happy, find something that makes you happy.
Interviewing is a skill, practice practice practice!
Former V Teamer here. I severed back in '23. I landed a new job after 3 months as a call center director. The call center I run has doubled in size over the past two years. In my experience, its very eye opening that so many qualified workers are just not good at interviewing. Its so important to answer the interview question with a specific situation, describe the actions you took, cover the outcome, and to be succinct. The job market it ROUGH and even getting an interview is challenging.....so when you do get an interview, you have to knock it outta the park. My advice is to practice, look up Ted Talks or YouTube videos around how to interview. Go to your interview with copies of your resume and cover letter. If attending the interview remotely, have those digitally that you can offer up to the interviewer.
Pro tip-at the end of the interview they typically ask if you have any questions. This is a key opportunity that many people miss on. Ask them what their ideal candidate is, ask them what challenges a new hire will face, ask them how a new hire can set themselves up for success. Make them think of you in that role, show them you are prepared to hit the ground running. I know it seems small, but its small stuff like this that can set you apart from the candidate pool. I remember not getting my first AD job I went after at Verizon. When I got feedback from my director, she said it came down to the formatting of my resume. I was shocked by this feedback, then it hit me...IT WAS THAT CLOSE. Its about standing out in every possible way. Hope this helps someone!
Take advantage of outplacement services
People often ignore these or maybe are too proud or whatever, but these can be invaluable. They certainly were to me when I was laid off from my last job.
Support from Target??
For those who have been laid off, my heart goes out to you.
Has anyone used the services that Target has provided after the layoff? I got a call from RightManagement for resume and future career support. Is this a scam or actually legit?
Support Through Action
As many of us are finding out this morning, today is the start. For those of us fortunate to stay, we should aim to actively support those who will be forced to leave. Please remember to help those impacted by supporting their search for new employment. You have networks and skill sets that will help.
Right Management?
Has anyone used the benefit Right Management for career placement after EOI yet? Some googling has me thinking it's a waste of time. I'm not looking for a new job for another 6 months or so, so IDK if I can delay starting it or not.
Anyone find a good recruiter they can recommend for engineering/operations?
Things You Can Control
- Write LinkedIn recommendations on the profiles of those impacted. This helps in their job search.
- Update your own LinkedIn profile.
- Offer to share your network, make connections for others.
- If impacted, take full advantage of any job search help, career coaching, or upskilling opportunities.
- Reach out to anyone you feel may be struggling - get together for a walk or just chat over zoom.
- If you are struggling, reach out to literally anyone and get some support.
- Go outside. Fresh air, sun, exercise can all help. Take a shower, get dressed.
- If you’re not impacted, take today and feel all your feelings. It’s okay to be mad, scared, etc. Process it and move on.
