Polishing resumes?

Some are quite convinced that their positions are stable, but I think it's wiser to polish your resumes. High time to do it.

Question of When

Layoffs are certain. The only big wildcard is when. My hunch? If nothing happens in the next few weeks, it won't happen until early 2023. Zuck and co are incompetent, but I doubt they would be mean enough to axe people over the holiday season.

Biggest mistakes

Lets have a sincere thread about the worst business mistakes made at Facebook/ Meta.

The smart ones used this as a stepping stone

Smart people stayed here only for as long as it was enough for them to upgrade their skillset and find a better job. Why don't those who don't like their jobs just leave instead of wasting their time here?

I hate my job, is this normal?

I’ve been at FB about a year, it’s my first job out of college, and I really hate work. I dread it so much. It’s not that I’m bad at it, I got a good performance review and seem to be well respected for my work. Too many meetings, I have no time to... — read more

Facebook Hires Interns and Fires them!

Says it Can’t Afford Them Amid Reported Layoffs and a Hiring Freeze https://www.analyticsinsight.net/web-stories/facebook-hires-interns-and-fires-them-says-it-cant-afford-them/

Leadership is a hot mess

Sheryl was the real leader of this place. Once she left, the s*** hit the fan. Mark doesn't know what he's doing. Jav is in way over his head. Dave is trying to keep this place together. Metaverse is a failure because - shocker - our in-house... — read more

I don't buy the 12k rumors

I understand we'll have layoffs and I understand it will be major, but 12k? That's too many. I don't think Meta can get rid of so many people and still continue to function as is. My best guess, considering the little real information we have so far... — read more

Why do you want to leave this place?

There are more and more dissatisfied people. I'm not even considering transition as an option, I'd rather quit because I'm sick of this company. I think the list of reasons why more and more of my colleagues feel the same would be too long

Great purge ?

https://nypost.com/2022/10/04/facebook-to-purge-thousands-of-workers-in-quiet-layoffs/ Just wondering if you still have the severance pay if you got fired after the company "supports" you to become better during this quite layoffs? Any experience... — read more

Meta has been overhiring for years

This might be a tough pill to swallow, but this place needs layoffs. There is so much fat that at least ten percent of the workforce could be removed without it being felt. You could remove a full level of management and nobody would notice. I know... — read more

I hope I won't have to send a bunch more resumes

So far, I have sent a bunch of resumes and I still haven't received a good offer. It seems that it is much more difficult to get a new job now. I'm thinking of applying to a smaller company, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea because it also has... — read more

FB workers were deemed non-essential

during the pandemic. That classification still holds true. Get rid of them. Facebook produces absolutely nothing of value.

In any case, planning to leave soon

I would prefer to find a job while I still have a job, but in any case, I was thinking of leaving this place. I have been looking for a better offer for some time, as have many of my colleagues, because... who still thinks that things will get... — read more

It’s starting

Heard from an ex-colleague who is L7 at META. Every director and above is given a target to reduce staff by 10% - 15%. If they meet 15% and keep the productivity alive then raise for some directors. Employees will start receiving emails on... — read more

Fear of layoffs...

is actually a strategy to get you to work more. Nobody cares about you and the "no back row" stuff is just flavoring so the hard truth is palatable.

This is getting ridiculous

You want to lay people off? Then go ahead! Threatening layoffs all the time is getting tiring. Do it and let us move on.

Not the first choice anymore

Facebook used to be the first choice employer for both junior and senior software engineers but that's no longer true. It's not just the dragged-out layoffs, but everything that has been happening in the last few years. Our reputation has suffered... — read more

It started... 30 days list

"Meta is slimming its workforce and avoiding a flurry of pink slips by forcing some employees onto a "30-day list" that leaves them only a month to find a new role or leave the company if their department is downsized or eliminated" "until recently... — read more

Demanding more and more from employees

In any case, if I don't get cut, I'll do my best to find my way out of here as soon as possible. How demanding has your job become? The demands I'm often facing are unrealistic, to say the least. The manager is trying to make me feel miserable... — read more

Leaving Meta for a startup

Did anybody here leave a big tech company for a startup? How did it go? Any regrets? I got an amazing offer and I'm considering it, especially with layoffs still looming at Meta. The startup is promising and there's a realistic chance it'll go public... — read more

No more responsible innovation at Meta?
