GF Malta is an Unsafe Workplace

Malta is an unsafe environment. It also maintains a toxic culture. https://www.timesunion.com/business/article/globalfoundries-fined-22k-worker-electrocuted-18389091.php

Fab 9 question

Hi fab 9ers in Malta we are hearing rumors that Jack Chen is there with HR rep in tow having meetings about saying byby to test. Any truth to these rumors???

New COO

TB taking over for COO, fabs should get ready

Honestly, surprised.

It's been about 9 months since I departed GF. Laid off back in December with a decent package. I was lucky and found another job in the Albany area rather quickly and life has gone on. Decided to come back here and see what's going on these days with... — read more

We need raises that keep up with inflation. HR at global is notorious for coming to this website and downvoting union posts. Here are some facts

(From nlrb.gov) Examples of employer conduct that violates the law: Threatening employees with loss of jobs or benefits if they join or vote for a union or engage in protected concerted activity. Threatening to close the plant if employees... — read more

SMIC 7 nm is last nail in GF’s coffin

With compute and mobile in slowdown, GF is already dying. Recent SMIC news is last nail in GF’s coffin. It was hard for GF to survive after it’s decision to pivot.

Attrition at all time high?

From what I'm seeing in organizations around me the attrition seems to be at an all-time high here at GF. The HR puppet can try to massage the numbers previously and use some four-year average which was the best data she could find but I'm betting... — read more

Pivot's 5 year anniversary reflections

GF pivoted 5 years ago, and has been downhill since. Lost good people, lost some operations, lost big customers, and failed with derivatives play. Yes but it was able to carry out DEI, advance many women to senior leadership roles, maintain the same... — read more

GlobalFloundries can’t compete.

Instead of stepping up to the challenge, GF is crying to the German Government. Seems as if Germany is getting behind and subsidizing TSMC for a new Fab. “ The situation has led Globalfoundries to register its concerns with the EU Commission. The... — read more

Where does GF go from here?

The big question is where does GF go moving into the future in terms of strategic direction to increase revenue and gross margins to allow for increased development investment? The current technology roadmap has nothing novel in it to differentiate... — read more

Future of GF

I did an analysis for myself about GF's future and whether I will stay or go that I would like to share. Thinking fab by fab here: Fab 1: Dresden 300mm fab. Nothing new being developed, 28BCDL on and off hold, 22FDX has limited customer base... — read more

Reasons why you think GF will continue to sink?

I wish I was more optimistic, but it doesn't seem to me that GF has any clear strategy for the future. I think if you were to ask the employees what they think about the future of this place, the answers would be overwhelmingly dismal.

Walk out scheduled for next Tuesday Aug 1st.

In Malta a group of 300 employees are planning a walkout at 10am. We will simply stop our duties and head to the entrance gate and begin our strike. This has gone to far and it's time to take a stand.

GF is sinking fast

Nothing seems right Attrition at its peak Terrible leadership at every position Loading sinking fast Issues taking forever to solve Stock prices sinking

GF leadership has lost its way

I don't believe there are many here who still trust this leadership and have faith that they know what they are doing. It seems like the company has lost direction, doesn't it? I don't know if I'm more frustrated or saddened by what's happened to... — read more
