Sh$t Show

I have been employed here for 17 years.. I can say without hesitation that this is the worst I have ever seen it. Senior management could care less that departments are drowning with work, due to layoffs and not replacing staff. It’s just a matter... — read more

Continuation of layoffs

What's the situation with layoffs? Will there be a continuation today or have they notified everybody who is affected yesterday? There's so little info on these cuts and no official word that i have to ask here. I really wish there was more... — read more

Layoffs have started 4/12

How many more knowledgeable people are they going to keep getting rid of? Oriskany is losing people today . Anyone else ? All while they say they sent too much to india. 70% of work was shipped when they cannot have more than 50% there and have to... — read more

Ha ha they want me back

Who wants work for BNY ? Me, me me; if they have capacity to pay 250k a year or else don’t even try me. Remember you laid me off!

Earnings predictions?

What do you think? I'm guessing earnings will be around $1 but after another few hundred million write-off for re-orgs and legal fees we'll miss estimates and the stock will drop 5% for a few months like it always does.

We don’t have time for quality because...

we are bombarded with corporate junk mail we have to attend a litany of useless ‘town halls’ with no action required (other than working faster to compensate for The lost time we have to take ineffective Pluralsight training on technologies... — read more

Learn from the mistakes of others

My team was so understaffed and I thought that there was no more room for layoffs after they laid off some of the best people I have ever worked with. And then I relaxed instead of looking for a new job because I thought the likelihood of me getting... — read more

Signs indicating that layoff is coming to you?

Lately I'm seeing more and more of my colleagues losing their jobs. I talked to a few of them and they all told me that there were absolutely no signs that they would be laid off soon, for example empty table syndrome, subtle changes in superior's... — read more

I'm middle age and I was laid off

It's been months and I still haven't found a replacement job. I'm at an age where I'm still too young to retire but at the same time nobody will give me a chance to start over (and realistically, I don't even know if I could.) All my plans for the... — read more

Doing more less well

I DO make more mistakes now than I used to, which are due to the fact that the requirements for doing my job have increased: a) in complexity, and b) in sheer volume due to loss of staff members in my group that were not replaced. Let me also state... — read more

Layoffs

Does anyone know of the next round of layoffs started today? There are rumors that this is the week

To Those Who Have Been Laid Off

No sarcasm, please. I am curious as to what is to be expected for those of you that have been laid off. What was the procedure? What did you sign? What did you not sign? What do you suggest signing and what do you suggest not signing? What does the... — read more

Layoffs happen all the time

There's no point in wondering if there'll be layoffs in April, May, June or next year. The answer is always going to be yes. What you could be asking is where and how many if somebody in the know is willing to share but just askings if there'll be... — read more

Remote Work

How long until we hear word about how important it is for us to return to the office in person? Google made an announcement today and the WSJ has a feature article on the same topic. (I know this is not related to layoffs)

Company of many lies?

If it’s true then only certain business units will be affected. From what I heard, finance upper management told their remaining staffs after the January separations that they were safe for the rest of the year. Now I wonder if they were lying to... — read more

Do you make more mistakes now than ever?

I’ve never made more mistakes than I have lately. Fortunately, they are small errors that I notice immediately and that can quickly be corrected, but all the same, it never happened that much before. Decline in motivation, stress, work overload... — read more

The work environment is ridiculous

Sometimes it feels like high school all over again. Coworkers acting like it’s a popularity contest. Bullying here and there. And let’s not forget about those who backstab and gossip when you’re not around. I hate that I have to work with people... — read more

April Layoffs

Is there any truth to layoffs in April. I heard they were coming. It's crazy, I don't know any team that can spare a single person.

How much more work do you do compared to last year?

A lot of people are complaining about the increase in workload since last year and I believe them. Admittedly, that's not my case but I don’t know how they could give me more work when I’ve already been working so hard for a few years now that I... — read more

401k website

I was laid off but have recently started a new job and I am trying to rollover 401k from BNY into my new employers 401k. The website provided by BNY NEVER seems to work and I cannot logon to access old 401k. Has anyone else had this problem?

They want to improve culture?

My opinion is that the goal of surveys is certainly not to help them diagnose problems that need to be worked on in order to improve culture. In fact, I don’t even know if it’s in their interest to improve it nor if it's even possible to improve it... — read more

Worst place to work

Place tries to sell itself as an industry leader, but only leads in poor management. Managers use the force rating policy (unofficial but it does exist) to lay off people that the don't stroke their egos. Promotions are based on cronyism and not... — read more

Get out get out get out

People need to see the writing on the wall. BNYM was a great employer a long time ago but now it has turned into one of the worst. It's no longer a matter of if you'll be laid of but when. Don't let something so obvious surprise you. After all... — read more

Proxy Statement

I see that in the proxy statement Todd received a 56% raise in 2020 - salary went from $800k in 2019 to $1,250,00 in 2020. If that's not a slap in the face to all the employees who received nothing or a mere 1% merit, I don't know what is. So glad... — read more

Peakon surveys

Gaslighting

My manager is an expert on gaslighting. She's a horrendous person, like most managers in Treasury Services, whose only talent is to rely upon one person on their team to handle complex projects while allowing her pals to slack. Rant over.

Good stepping stone?

I haven’t been at Mellon for long, but I see a lot of people on the forum saying that it’s no longer a good place to stay however it is a good stepping stone to go to some better place. Honestly, I don’t know how to use this place as a stepping... — read more

Shell game

BNY is a dumpster fire. Our CEO has been sacked twice (fired then rehired then fired again). Companies merged under the guise of “synergies” but just layoffs. Shelf life of BK CEOs is 3 years, I’ve had 6 so far. If you can’t increase revenue you cut... — read more

There’s only so much we can do

There is absolutely nothing I can do about the workload forced upon me. Management seems to treat us as if we’re robots and not human beings who have a limit on how fast we can work or how much stress we can take. After months of this it’s taken its... — read more
