Topics regarding layoffs at Optum

So it’s gonna be layoffs all the time now?

I always thought this company was horrible, but at this point it’s like a caricature of the workplace. I just can’t stand coming to work everyday watching everybody terrified of losing a job any moment. It’s all so cruel and dehumanizing. One of the... — read more

Optum landmark layoffs and redeployments

Is anyone safe? Another round of “redeployments” today. Are they dismantling Landmark? Originally 20 markets set to close now 18 with Michigan and Kentucky staying open? Anyone have any insight on what to expect next? Leadership claims to not know... — read more

Is the State of the Union next week a chance for us?

Ladies and gentlemen, gather 'round for the tale of a reluctant SICC (Supervisor in Charge of Counting Coins). For years, I've been the grim reaper of hospital stays, convincing myself that if I didn't do it, someone else would. Well, karma's a funny... — read more

UHG/OPTUM are predatory, unethical companies

UHG/OPTUM are predatory companies. Get out if an when you can. They buy out and destroy competition. They buy out to acquire customers from the business they acquire and then destroy them and layoff people. Unfortunately, they can't be stopped... — read more

Home Health Layoffs

Does anyone know when the next round of layoffs will be for the home health department of Optum Home and Community formerly known as navihealth.

Siva Balu?

E&I CIO seems to have quietly left. No information but he’s off of teams and org map. Seemed like a pretty ambitious, strong leader.

Kristy Duffey left...why?

Did anyone ever find out why she left? They never even announced it besides an email to GL 31+. So weird no announcement to the peons.

Old navi State of the Union meeting

What is this suspicious meeting Aug 8th for all SICCs and CMCCs? It's called State of the Union. Are they actually going to be honest with the workforce about future changes???

How are you faring with job search?

I just started, and I’m already terrified. I worked in insurance. I see some of you suggest widening the search beyond the health industry. Any suggestions? I’ve been in Optum for too long, got complacent, and haven’t been on the job market for a... — read more

"Landmark" done by 2025?

Now that this latest round of RIF is complete, all signs point to the complete dismantling of Landmark by the end of the year. Does anyone have any info on this, and or what from Landmark would remain?

Home and Community navihealth

I know navihealth home health is gonna be hit again but does anyone know exactly which wave it will be? I heard it will be top down this time and will include several workers too. Unable to get which month.

Landmark leadership = losers

One week after the last RIF and leadership is clearly not able to lead. Leaders running meetings rehashing old news as if they have something meaningful. Listening to this is cringy and embarrassing. “We don’t know whats going on either! As soon as... — read more

Ever? I feel like I'm always thinking about layoffs. Even a day after a round is done, I'm immediately worrying about the next one. It's exhausting.

This is from 3 years ago

https://youtu.be/Z8-EFDENHrw?si=PKrM9D1LUtFbZ0bx Watch this and think about it. I swear, if I seen this when it originally came out, I probably would have left then and saved myself 3 years of unnecessary stress and bs

Applying to Optum after receiving severence

Curious if anyone has been laid off and received a severence but then saw a job postings and applied to Optum. Is there a period you must wait not to pay back the severence? The letter doesn't specify. Thanks

Take care of yourself

Optum is not worth giving up your health for. Not your mental and certainly not your physical health. People are breaking their backs for this place and for what? A threat of more layoffs? You need to realize what your priorities are - and they... — read more

8 waves of layoffs?

According to the https://www.ocregister.com/2024/07/24/optum-laying-off-364-california-healthcare-workers-shuttering-urgent-cares/, there will be layoffs in "eight waves, the letter states, beginning Sept. 16 and concluding in January 2025."

I hope I’ll get laid off

If for no other reason than because I can’t cope with not being able to provide health service my clients are due and in many cases depend very much upon it, as per the profit only-driven policies. There is “being too much of a softie” and there is... — read more

Are the OICs safe?

Honestly, I feel like the OICs are just thrown to the wolves at this point. Like someone said the other day, the “red-headed step children” of the company. Tired of people throwing things on OICs with no extra pay. I’m sure it won’t be long before AI... — read more
