Band responsibilities & differences

I’ve been at Nike a few years, and the longer I’m here, the more confused I am about the differences between band levels and responsibilities. It seems more clear in the lower band levels (like L and U) but then becomes more fuzzy in E, S, and... — read more

Bonus %

So you know how the yearly bonus paid out at 80%? The JDI day party cost was what took it down to that, otherwise it would have been 100! WTF???? !

Post CDA - is Nike better off?

Genuinely curious to know if Nike is more effective after all the layoffs In 2020. Wasn’t the point to reduce cost and “simplify”? Quarterly results would indicate otherwise. Easy to blame the external environment on current results but shouldn’t CDA... — read more

Inventory management

Nike has not had proper inventory management for a long time, and of course that creates big problems. Is achieving proper inventory control so difficult or do we have incompetent people in positions responsible for it?

ESPP

Can somebody explain why ESPP was purchased on Sept 29 ($95 close price) when it's supposed to be Sept 30 ($83 close price)? Seems like a big middle finger to the team and it did not go unnoticed.

Good place to start, get experience and then leave

I had a really great time here and I'm happy that I got the opportunity to gain some experience and make new connections. However, is it worth staying longer here? My opinion is that it is not worth it, because the pay is not adequate, while... — read more

Unrealistic deadlines

This has become the norm lately. I'm not sure if they're trying to get rid of me or if they genuinely don't know how much it takes to do certain things. Either way, it's driving me insane to the point that I'm considering leaving. Which could be me... — read more

Have you noticed that attrition has slowed?

In my department, people leaving has finally slowed down a bit. That's great, considering I don't know how we would continue to function if the best employees continued to seek happiness in other companies. Meanwhile, I couldn't be more overwhelmed... — read more

When will the board hold JD accountable?

The quarterly results were horrendous. Employee morale is at an all-time low. And the stock has slaughtered. At what point does the board insist on a leadership change? Their patience has to be running thin. JD has been an abject failure and the CDA... — read more

Too much dead weight

The most notable sign that the company has too much dead weight is the toxic atmosphere they create. There is role conflict and role ambiguity, which has become rampant. For those who have worked in competing companies - is there as much dead... — read more

Outsourcing is not the easy answer to everything

Outsourcing jobs globally isn’t as easy as it sounds. With most “knowledge work” jobs there are a LOT of small cultural nuances involved that don’t translate well. I learnt this years ago at another company when we attempted to outsource some work to... — read more

How long will this last?

If only one more colleague leaves, I too will leave, even if it means that I will have to agree to a lower pay somewhere else. It makes no sense that people are leaving and their positions never getting backfilled. How long do they think it will... — read more

Promotions in NA Supply Chain

LH demonstrated that you don’t need experience to be a leader when he promoted GT….although we all know KH was behind that as GT bows down to her still. Now MW is a director? All this says is experience isn’t needed. She’s a disorganized mess. — read more

Budget issues in Nike Tech?

Budget cuts everywhere that are unattainable? Want to know why? We're not doing layoffs "right now" (cough), but this is how Nike gathers the money for future package layoffs. It's coming! I've been through this enough times where this is the... — read more

WFH reduces job security

Be careful what you wish for. When you demonstrate that your job can be done from anywhere in the world it becomes a problem. Your competition is now global and there are many candidates willing to do your job from where they are living at a much... — read more

Any predictions on quarterly report?

Despite everything, I was hoping that this would be a good quarter. Now I read that Wall Street is slashing earnings expectations. Not good.

Be grateful that Nike is a large corp

I'm not a fan of the anchor days, but I'm grateful that there's some flexibility. There are a lot of companies that are requiring in house five days a week even after they promised remote work. How does that work? No idea. Pre-pandemic we... — read more

Micromanagement

Is this the new norm at Nike or am I just unlucky and my new manager is an id--t who can't realize that those of us who've been here for over a decade know what we're doing much better than he does? He's grating on my nerves and I swear I'm going to... — read more

JDI Day Disappointment

Putting this out there - been to so many previous JDI days and this one was a complete and utter fizzle. Bring us together in one place. Do not make this day all across campus. It was terrible. So many teams putting everything out on the line and it... — read more

The goal is to avoid layoffs

The leadership wants to reduce the headcount organically. That's why they have created an environment that any sane person would want to leave as fast as they can. And that's why you can see people leaving in droves constantly and most of them are... — read more

The Nike proxy statement is interesting

I hope all of you who own Nike shares actually read the proxy statement and vote your shares accordingly. The proxy statement has some absolute gems in it. For example: “The employee identified at the median of all NIKE employees (other than our... — read more

Nike’s branding is going down the gutter

Go look on Nike’s IG. What is the strategy here? It’s literally nothing but androgynous looking women. That’s not who buys product. I’m at a loss at this point.

Nike Stasi

When will the people fired get their jobs back? The chickens have come home to roost at the CDC. Time for the Nike Stasi to cry uncle and rehire the persecuted.

Well-being week makes me want to never go back

Our group is being shuffled again, I have another new manager, my job makes no sense, and every reorg just means someone else is trying to jam their agenda. Well-being week = job search week. This place is terrible.

Remote work in the future?

Ive heard rumors swirling around that there may soon be an option to work full time remote for all employees at WHQ. Has anyone else heard this or something similar?

Nike Non-Compete + Medical Insurance

If Nike forces you to sit out on a Non-Compete... do they have to continue to pay your medical insurance during that time? Does anyone have any insight on the medical insurance side?

I plan to submit my resignation

I thought it would be very easy to give notice, but it it's not. On the one hand, I'm glad that I found a better opportunity, but on the other, it's still stressful after so many years here, to start again from scratch somewhere else. What I'm... — read more

Strangely quiet here

This page used to popping with rumors (some false, some true) and info leaks almost daily this time of year. Not just some of the complaining posts I’ve seen, but actual posts with juicy substance. Now it is just crickets. Did posters move on? Is... — read more

We've lost so many good people

All the smart and technical folks are either long gone or are actively working on their exit strategy. Nike used to be the place that attracted the best but that's no longer the case. I've been here a long time and watching the quality of the... — read more
