Do you have to exceed expectations in order to get promoted?

Fired for not meeting the in office requirements

I was fired for not meeting the in office requirements, I was doing duties that were not in my role description for a below market salary compared to other companies. TBH they could have fired me a long time ago because I was not showing up to the... — read more

Doing less and living better

The past few months have been life-changing. I stopped trying to juggle three people's jobs, and my mental health has skyrocketed. If cutting back leads to getting laid off, so be it. I’ll take the severance and move on. My next job will have to come... — read more

Back to office full time

Is BNY Pershing returning back to office full time next year? I know JPM is, starting in February. I do not work for either firm but may be looking to make a move next year, so I am curious if it’s been announced yet at BNY Pershing.

Evaluations are ridiculous

Like everything else. When you find yourself on a chopping block, it’s never because you didn’t work hard, or didn’t have good results, or were lacking skills and expertise. It’s because you lost in a numbers game. So don’t worry about whether you... — read more

Promotion Policy

Has anyone else heard the proposed promotion policy change? 1) in line Promotions can only be given to employees who received "exceeds expectations". 2) Employees can no longer apply out of their job to achieve a higher grade level. If an employee... — read more

What’s wrong with Phoenix University?

I noticed many answers on this forum make fun of its graduates. Why? I confess, I did not graduate from any school in US, I’ve done my studies in Europe.

So no mass layoffs before Jan 25?

At least that seems to be the consensus. Not that it provides any solace. January is right around the corner anyway…No rest for the weary.

Key word from your Year End Revie

Culture of no respect

So many of these posts illustrate that the culture here is the worst thing and this might not seem like the biggest deal but it also illustrates how terrible this place is when it comes to respecting other people. I can’t tell you how many times... — read more

BNY Branding

Just wondering what offices got the new "BNY" Branding and when it was installed. If you could just comment your office and if you got it and when. Thanks

Layoffs

So when is the next round of layoffs? Or are they complete with the ones done in December? Or are more to come this month?

Work from anywhere not applying

The work from anywhere days I applied last week are not updating in my RTO tracker. Neither is the vacation I have scheduled for later in the month. I really don't want to come in 9 days this month as I saved work from anywhere for this month.

TS “Recognition” Townhall

So much for recognition. Having to sit through management patting themselves on the back especially in the P-M. All focus was on India, APAC, and the Engineers in P-M. Zero call outs for the individual contributors making the customer experience... — read more

Unique recharge period…

…like the Mafia guys who wine and dine you before- you know. Heavy layoffs coming up, so they want you to enjoy the holidays before the returns LOL!

Endless meetings

I find myself worn out from back-to-back meetings that don’t even need to happen. It's like a never-ending cycle of pointless talks. How much time do you spend in meetings that really don’t move things forward? It’s like they just su-k the energy... — read more

Is balance just a myth?

Sometimes I wonder if it’s even possible to juggle work and life anymore. Lately, it feels like work is stealing every moment, leaving nothing for the people who matter most. All I can do is hope for a better job soon.

We know who blabbed in the Houston office

We found out who blabbed in the town hall a few months ago that led to the firings about the “working together” policy this past week in the Houston office(not sure if firings happened in the other offices). She works in asset admin and asked the... — read more

Year end review ADVICE

If you do NOT agree with your year end review, DO NOT acknowledge it (meaning don’t respond with ACKNOWLEDGE or AGREE or whatever that response is that returns it into someone else's queue). BNY removed the option to add comments to your review. ... — read more

WFH release

Question- for people in locations where offices closed so they are WFH, I’m told the goal is to release….I see an EC member showing WFH as well as direct reports to EC….so will they also get let go?

Peakon Surveys - just another untruth

Let me preface this by saying I don’t care if my manager or others know it’s my comment. However, the email we receive every quarter states “Your identity is protected”, My manager could easily deduce it’s my comment however my identity is clearly... — read more

Layoff month?

Tons of inconsistencies while reading these posts. I get it, there’s a lot of information , misinformation and given the mess at the top, a lot of changes. But, does anyone know if layoffs in non-growth areas will be in Dec or Jan?

Vacation time..

Office politics rule everything

If you're just starting out in BNY, here's the most important tip I can give you: get good at office politics. It’s the key to fast-tracking your career. Forget about merit, it’s no longer the driving force here. What really matters is how well you... — read more

I got a job offer

It’s less money, but it otherwise sounds like an improvement over BNY. I’m tempted to take it. I have been with BNY for four years now, and it’s time to leave. I don’t need to spell out the reasons to most of you. I got to the point where I would... — read more
