GM2020

Never in a million years would I have thought this is what all the black badges were about. I once wore one with pride. What a joke.

Digital Tracking

CFO org executive cuts???

I don't see any TBD boxes under our new CFO's org. Not a single one, even a few levels down. What happened to 25% executive cuts? I guess that only applies to Engineering, the folks who actually design and build vehicles. Sad to see that engineering... — read more

Bottom 15% gone

GM workers make 50% more than BMW, Hyundai, Nissan, and Volkswagen workers stateside. Are those companies laying off every few years? UAW shills feel free to downvote away.

Executives?

Any executives, director level, chiefs that got the boot?

Not interested in working at Beaumont

What a dumb idea. Yeah, I'll take a job at Beaumont medical after leaving the automotive industry as an engineer. Running errands for some nurse is exactly what I need after being 86'd by GM.

Be Happy

Most of you guys have to much pride. Looking to much into it. It's a job. Make as much money as you can and save some for a rainy day. Do things that interest you. Make family number one. Enjoy life. Sh-- happens. Nothing lasts for ever. Fight for... — read more

What happen to all the EV workload in 2019?

I know GM axed a lot of programs, but weren't there a lot of EV programs in the pipeline? I recall seeing charts and the ramp up of work. It just seemed like there weren't enough people for it all.

HR disaster

I would imagine some will be asked to return when the red flags start flying. New college hires take time and backfilling is not that simple. I believe this was just a big HR debacle. If you are asked to return before Feb 28th think clearly of what... — read more

Stay or go? What are you going to do?

So after the bloodshed and if a survivor, what will you do? Will you look for new opportunities, just stick around with an all new low moral for the company? For me, it is comfortable just to stay, but don't know. Maybe keep feeding out the resumes... — read more

TRACK program

As someone who finished TRACK last year I’m not sure how you believe TRACK employees will lead GM into the future. Most (myself included) are completely clueless until someone shows them the ropes. I felt the program was a waste of time and I got... — read more

Layoffs are immoral

Layoffs are immoral. To deprive someone of a wage not because he is failing to earn it or because you can no longer afford to pay it but because you have decided that you would prefer not to pay him is robbery. The fact that it has been a widely... — read more

Layoffs over?

Do we get another round next week or are we good?

The Release Agreement

Any reason to not sign the release? I haven’t heard of any class action. Two other items: 1. My agreement states that I will not disparage GM. So I must be careful, at least throughout the duration of the agreement. 2. Also, it states that GM doesn’t... — read more

Layoff Swindlers

Today the layoff swindlers who argue that taking the earnings away from thousands and thousands of families is necessary always promise a fallacy: After the painful but unavoidable disruption, a new revivified company will emerge, one that is more... — read more

The New Reality

For those of you in the higher levels of GM, some thoughts from someone who has been downsized: ~Study the Obamacare exchanges. You may qualify for an insurance subsidy, since GM Cobra is sky-high. ~Except for those at the lower levels of GM land... — read more

Advise to potential GM employees

I would entertain a job paying even 20K lower in pay over an offer from GM you may have. GM management and leadership is the worst ever and I am not exaggerating when I say this. Not only GM leadership style s---s, they also don't respect their... — read more

Life after the job cuts

So I survived the cuts and on the first meeting with our leader, we were told to put in all we have got so that the cuts we made don't go in vain. I have just about had it with this stupid company. I am taking the first job I am landing. GM leaders... — read more

Abandoning our roots

Ford is cutting even more than GM but the majority of the cuts are outside of the US. Honestly I never seen a car manufacturer that makes reductions in the place where they originate prior to other places. All the major automotive companies in the... — read more
