For a company that earned multi billion$ per quarter, it seems minimal reward/high risk to transition to low cost and low capability workforce in a 3rd world country.
The savings seems like it is not worth the risk and also not worth destroying all confidence and loyalty of its HC10 employees.
How much is the total annual target savings of moving to third world country 1/10 salary workforce, low cost engineering, low cost fabrication and procurement?
The purge continues. 1/2 customer service social media team that supports customers vis social media channel were laid off and outsourced to Bangalore, India. Long time manager dating back to TSG included in layoffs. Hearing remaining half going after they train their replacements in India.

Heard of several layoffs in CIT over the last 24 hours. First in the US followed by Bangalore and other regions after. People tech, DES, CTS. Mostly directors and managers but also heard of some ICs. No idea if it’s over but surprised to not see anything about this yet
The biggest reason people doesn’t trust management is we can see with our own eyes what they tell us isn’t true. We work better in person- sure, me sitting alone in a cubicle trying to make sure I click a button a certain undefined number of times is so much better. Indians are our equal partners - sure when I fix something for the tenth time and the guy in Bangalore has no consequences it’s so true. So why would I believe it when they say WFC is a place to build a career when all I see are layoffs?
Heard layoff in Bangalore which happened in NOV was targeted NS and particular org???? Same people under the org in US also were impacted.. but severance was decent itseems.. any idea if it's true????
I am a retiree, been gone and happy for 5 years.
Over the last 2 weeks I have had a few emails, then some phone calls from Chevron folks based in Bangalore.
Seems several people have been giving the team in India the contact details for some of us who are retired.
The nice folks I talked to in India were asking for me be a mentor and help with some technical questions.
What is going on? Who is giving out contact details? have any other retirees had similar communications?

The discussions so far have been focused on the US workforce. Would anyone have information of what BC did with offshore offices and teams in CA and Symantec after those acquisitions? Our teams are large in Costa Rica and India (primarily, Bangalore) and we wonder what will happen to us. We have very nice offices in these locations so I also wonder how long it would take to take over or dismantle these children organizations, assuming this is what will happen. Thoughts, please?

Recent job reqs for tech support have all been in "low-cost centers" (Costa Rica and Bangalore) for backfilling positions.
How long until $VMW decides to just ship support to low cost centers completely (and use Atlanta for federal support since it's considered "lower cost") and ditch Broomfield just like they did with Burlington a few years back?

Good that Shell Oil has fired very excellent performers since the contractors or full timers are no longer needed for Shell and why the Shell company needs to retain such employees.
It is very good that the Shell has fired all under performed employees at #Bangalore. Now it will remove all contractors of #Accenture, #IBM and #Wipro whoever are working at One Shell Plaza and Two Shell Plaza and other offices located in Houston,Texas.
Also it has plans to remove all contractors even in California Shell Office,Malaysia and other Asian locations of Shell.
All full timers and especially contractors need to look for other jobs but looks like they rarely fit for other jobs since the work environment at shell is like a #Government of India where people get huge salaries for not doing any work.
