People over 45 suck at ad sales?

Why do you think it's rare to find anyone over 45 in a sales position there vs. what you may have found five years ago? Is it because people over 45 suck at ad sales? Is it because they were all smart enough to get out before the company started going downhill?

Did they retire on the kick ass compensation they'd already banked - all of them? Did the company slowly restock them with folks under age 30 being paid less? If you've been around long enough, judge for yourself how much each factor has contributed. Take a look at who is selling now.

Gave 25 years of my life to this company

I had 5 more years to go. Restructure is what they call it. Basically they found a way to clean house of people close to retirement to reduce paying high salaries and benefits. Offered a buyout of 3 years retirement. I took it because I feared my job would go away. This means you "QUIT" your job. No unemployment, can't find job because there is definite age discrimination out there people. I got the boot the end of June 2015 and still have not found a job. Finally got a temp job. I have had to use one third of the supposed retirement just to pay my bills. Really sucks when you have planned your retirement based on having the job until your 65 and have this done to you. Management made some bad decisions, but did they loose their jobs??? No of course not. If Dr. Bose were alive today, everything would be different. RIP

It's just a matter of time when they hit with class action ( #AgeDiscrimination ) - easy to litigate, settles really well - if you are over 40, find a good attorney, you have a solid shot here

I got hit in the January 2015 layoff. 5 of the 6 victims in my department were over age 40. In April, my old group started hiring again and filled comparable slots with less experienced sorts (all under age 30). Nice campus, soulless place.

Executive Lesson #1: "Resource Actions" hurt IBM's performance and ki-l morale.

OK, keep cutting but FYI - our morale is at an all time low and the window to turn the ship around is rapidly closing... Do you gentlemen (and ladies) know that there is no opportunity for employees to move to another assignment, once they have been tagged in a Resource Action - WHY? If you are over 40, IBM does not want you - is this an #AgeDiscrimination.

Finally, our famous and celebrated (merit based) performance review system is a total lying farce designed by hypocrites. Employees do not get an honest and fact based evaluation of their performance.

We all know that our workloads can be extremely heavy requiring much overtime for extended time periods - yet we are not paid if we work extra (even if we bill clients for it) - #underpaid.

Pay raises??? Forget it, if you are over 40, forget it for sure...

We also mastered the fine art of importing cheap labor and indentured servant from India - when the dust settles it'll only be #H1B and Executive Line up left standing...

I am sick of this Ginny Rometty...

Read this article and tell me Verizon is not guilty of all this. Discrimination of age, gender, race and sexual orientation all by Verizon!

Likely most here can testify to the discrimination by Verizon. Here is a 2013 Huffington post article that is exactly what verizon has done. No legal action and we all know it has been done.

Age discrimination law suit against AT&T and AT&T lost

This is probably already been posted but just in case here is the story. We need more and more of this type of law suits that will send AT&T and other companies who think they are above the law a message.

#agediscrimination is fairly rampant in corporate America! If you did not know, they are legal companies who specialize in class action suits focusing on age discrimination.

Thought age discrimination was illegal. Interesting how many workers are 45+ and weeded out quicker that a flies on shit.

#agediscrimination is rampant in corporate America>EEO Policy, HR Pls read

Fear not you over 50 types because your company has a strict policy on non discrimination. Hope HR reads this before the ROMs in 2016.

BK plotting another way to get rid of older employees 2016

New rule at Intel. HR is mandating that all interns who successfully completed their internships in 2015/2016 and who are graduating in 2016 should be given a permanent job in team, but there with be no increase in h/c POR. This means that managers will need to get rid of employees in 2016 to accommodate the new hires. There are around 3000 students who have interned in 2015.

Another sneaky way to get rid of older employees and replace them with RCGs. Way to go BK

I am not aware of any #wronfultermination or #agediscrimination cases involving Staples

It will happen. From what I know of at least 3 ex g.m.'s have won against staples wrongful termination.Including age discrimination, if you have been with the co. Over 10 years you are on your way out. Keep everything written down, keep good notes, schedules, no one on floor payroll cuts, budjets, sales, csat scores reviews,,everything, you can not run a store properly by yourself without having a heart attack yourself
