I was a VSP’er in December and filed for unemployment and had an appeal hearing and was denied. Was told no employee of Verizon that “volunteered” to leave will be approved for unemployment in any state so anyone saying they got it is lying!

Is there any room for older employees at Verizon
I don’t consider myself as technically outdated. My job is till pretty needed, and I like to think that I contribute a great deal, at least within my department. However, it seems that that doesn’t matter.I’m too young to consider early retirement... — read more
Verizon keeps getting rid of its best talent
Why? Do they not care about the future? How hard is it really to figure out that once you get rid of all the people with highest salaries you'll at the same time find yourself without all the people who know all of your systems the best? The ones who... — read more
It’s been confirmed
Is Confirm!! They want all the reps that where around when we use to make 4K plus out of the business. They want to bring new reps that never saw checks like that and pay them a higher hourly and eventually just quarterly bonuses. They are using In... — read more
What part of VZ is most in danger of layoffs ?
I think our leadership figured out that laying of in only a certain part of the company makes those layoffs, more or less stealth on the level of the whole company, given the company size and the fact that it operates at various locations. Think they... — read more

Have layoffs become a normal occurrence, even to a degree that nobody is talking about them?
The fact that there are fewer and fewer threads reporting layoffs on this board, even though they are happening on a daily basis just gives me the entire picture of the ill environment that we’re all faced at VZ in this time. Seems that people have... — read more

Unemployment in NY
Anyone that took the VSP in NY apply for unemployment and get it?
Wireline will still be there for a while, but that shouldn't be too comforting fort the people working there.
Read the threads on this board about the future of wireline and I have to agree with the people claiming that this part of the company is not in any immediate danger of being dismantled. However, that shouldn't be a fact that shout comfort the... — read more

don't know why VZ doesn't just deny service and turn wireline off
I'm a old timer maintenance tech, I don't know why VZ doesn't just deny service and turn wireline off. It obviously cost more money to keep it repaired than what's it worth. Maybe it's like a 57 Chevy in Cuba and they have no choice but to keep it... — read more

Copper will continue to die a slow death until Verizon pulls the plug
FIOS will continue to be a product that had tremendous potential if it was rolled out correctly but the piece meal way that it was done will keep it pretty much flatlined. Once Vz can get contractors in to do installs, it will look better to... — read more
