Topics regarding layoffs at Verizon Communications Inc.

I think I'll call in sick on Monday.

It's just painful to go to work these days. The waiting is really dragging everybody down. Any so called efficiency is more than shot now. Nobody's smiling at all, nobody's enthused, nobody cares, nobody knows if they will have a job tomorrow. Very... — read more

Applying for Verizon

If Verizon is such a sinking ship...why do people in retail stay? I was almost considering applying but reading through this makes me rethink the decision.

Still undecided

I thought I'd be ready by know, know what to do, but nope. I can't believe it's taking me this long to decide. I hope others are in a better place than I am. I think I'm half hoping that enough people will accept before the deadline and the decision... — read more

Layoffs either way

I'm getting more and more worried that even if enough people accept the buyout offer, we'll end up with layoffs that will be justified by reorganization. Or they will under-report the number of people who decided to accept the offer and use that as... — read more

How Long???

If you're on the 44k list, non-union, and have over 15 years in; How long can you realistically expect to last at "new" VZ? Although "they" don't owe us anything, why are "they" letting all of this speculation and morale busting run wild?

There's the door....

If say on 12/10 you get an agreement and they assign you an off date of 12/28, and you sign and return it, how long will they let you stay? Til the 28th? Or are they going to tell you just to clean out your stuff and take the rest of the year off... — read more

RIF’d Dec 2017, over 50, and after 10 months, finally got similar position in IT for $10k less. (I can probably make that up in OT.) For those still looking, I would say, keep trying as there are companies out there who do appreciate older workers... — read more

Never work for VZ again, never ever ever

The decision to require VSP acceptors to never apply for a verizon job again seems oddly shortsighted and also sends a poor message to what will be many managers. They want the ties of many years of collective experience permanently severed. A 1-3... — read more

What about those of us who stay?
