Process Improvement

There have been a lot of process improvements that some would equate to a need for lower headcount, but for most, those changes have just made a very long a day little more tolerable. Regardless of what anyone thinks, this is a relationship business... — read more

AIG could care less

Most companies don't rif 2 weeks before Christmas. AIG could care less. Ruining the lives of their employees in the name of profits says it all. 2019 won't be any better than this year. Maybe they should watch It's a Wonderful Life. The missing $... — read more

IT

IT had the most layoffs and it continues. Majority replaced by KL / Malaysia. Replacements are not up to par, and no actual official news on layoffs as they try to keep each lay-off in each location under the limit for announcements. This is almost... — read more

Charity Season & Spirit of Giving

There is no spirit of giving at AIG. Some offices have parties, others don't. This company that I truly loved when I started is on a destructive path. BD goes to Bermuda in the same week as a big RIF. As you know, travel has been restricted in the... — read more

Too Big to Fail? More like too small to survive

The guy making six figures has to work with an uninspired workforce already under the gun after all the RIF's creating a stressful workload. It took years for Hank Greenberg to build up the company. Granted he made mistakes with the derivatives but... — read more

CFO Out

Unstable employer - foolish and naive to trust ppl

My position was eliminated in Q4 2018, after being reassured that I had "nothing to worry about" by my supervisor. Don't trust any supervisors. I find AIG to be a very unstable company. More layoffs coming. I was unfortunate to get termination at... — read more

Any layoffs today?

We had a RIF go down this AM. About a third of our unit. More to follow tomorrow. Watch out for mundane, scheduled meetings on such things as goals. The only goal by the company is to RIF the employee without raising any suspicion. They were... — read more

Holiday Party

Just got word that due to expenses there in the claim department there will be no reimbursement for holiday lunches/dinners this year. How are we supposed to keep morale at any level above the toilet under these conditions...Unreal!

Lord Chris Holmes & AIG's Duperreault to join fireside chats with Premier at Bermuda's London industry events(Thomson Reuters ONE)

November 2018 Claims RIFs

What’s the story with layoffs this week? I’m most interested in claims adjusters, managers and lawyers in NYC but Id also like to hear what’s going on in Olathe and Alpharetta.

Layoffs under the radar

AIG has learned to stay under the radar but not doing RIF all at once. I am a 20 plus year veteran and they will continue mid 2019 I am told. No unit is safe from RIF's AIG is not writing many business as they did before. Also with the extensive... — read more

November 2018 Layoffs

More this year?

Is it true we'll see more layoffs this year? I've been hearing from a few coworkers on that possibility, but there's been nothing concrete, just speculation. I think it would be really cruel to lay people off so close to Christmas, but this is AIG so... — read more

What’s killing this company

People don’t share information. People don’t see a reason to give information out if it is to someone not in their tiny little in group. People joke about taking people to lunch just so they can get a little help. That’s insane. We’re in the same... — read more

Has anyone here taken advantage of their post-layoff outside career counseling offer? I admittedly walked out pretty p.o.'d but I'm heading toward the cutoff point of using them, if only for a professional re-do of my resume. Being one of the... — read more
