Has anyone felt too scared to leave ExxonMobil?

My buddy got into a car accident recently ( rear ended a semi) and will be out for at least 9 months. He is worried about being PIPed in this round because he will not be able to do his own PDS.

Does ExxonMobil PIP or drop down ranks badly for those on expat? I have been in top performer so far.
