Corporate monsters, demons and pigs

Over the course of the last year, I watched as my friends were blasted away. A feeling not unlike sitting in a trench, the sirens begin, foxholes are filled, and some unlucky chosen never make it back. While dramatic, this is the feeling I get with every announcement, email, and report.
Today, my friends were sold like property. Some spent their lives here, only to be told the work and time they put in is worthless, that they’re no longer with us. Offered up like it wasn’t their lives being affected. For what? So some disgusting rich pig can get fatter? So some greedy corporate demon can keep feasting on us?
I know this place is he-l, but I pray we aren’t so godless that justice goes unserved. Imagine sacrificing people just to pad your pockets.
I have nothing to say about what happened today, no news, nothing. My words are gone, and every day here is filled with apathy.

Nike Director+ (U.S.) Leadership Diversity Trends 2015 → 2024

Estimated — Nike Director+ (U.S.) Leadership Diversity Trends (2015 → 2024)

• White (non-Hispanic): ↓ 12% - 15%
• Non-White (racial/ethnic minorities): ↑ 45% - 60%
• Women: ↑ 20% - 30%
• Men: ↓ 15% - 20%
• Minority leadership: ↑ 30% - 40%
• Women in leadership: ↑ 15% - 20%

How this was constructed (summary):

• Uses Nike’s published FY2020–FY2021 Director+ race data (exact)
• Uses Nike’s reported minority % and gender % through FY2023/24 (exact totals)
• Extends back to 2015 using Nike’s stated multi-year progress and targets
• Applies simple interpolation/trend estimates where full yearly data is not disclosed
• All figures represent directional, magnitude-correct estimates — not fully disclosed year-by-year data
• Most detailed race data available: FY2020–FY2021 only
• Post-2021 reporting: aggregate minority % only (no race breakdown at Director+)

A previous poster in a separate thread challenged to build this based on historically reported information. There is enough publicly reported information to state the above is better than directional.

What does it mean? And what does this have to do with layoffs? Well, there is one group that clearly should be worried a bit more than others ahead of and during a layoff.

Act accordingly, and get out while you can.

None-Core layoffs?

Non-Core layoffs, who's actually been affected?
I'm a US-based remote employee in an SMBC Non-Core unit. I was certain I'd be laid off, but the axe hasn't fallen on me or several peers.
Is this a real stay of execution, or just a holding pattern before they sell us off?

SF Chronicle: Bay Area Cuts

Layoffs across major Bay Area tech companies like Meta, Google, and Salesforce have continued into 2026, reflecting a shift in the job market after years of aggressive hiring. While demand still exists for highly skilled workers, companies are becoming more selective and offering smaller severance packages. Most laid-off employees are finding new jobs within three to six months, though some searches are stretching up to a year. High living costs in the region make job loss especially difficult, as unemployment benefits are limited and often far below previous salaries.

Not as bad as it first sounded? Or they wanted chaos?

Yesterday we understood from the call that EVERYONE in the PS,CIO , DEV (except a few people) will be moving to 3rd party companies or let go, but today many people from all impacted groups are already retained, was this poorly communicated or they wanted everyone to feel the threat(then feel grateful?) feeling bad for those who moved or laid off, wishing you the very best .

Hold my beer …

… is what the chairman of the board likely said when it was assumed that Mark B. brought OpenText to the lowest depths possible. Jenkins is doing a great job of flirting with stock prices in the teens, which he will soon reach, and destroying what little morale was left.

I was let go today after receiving a great review and a hefty merit increase. I worked hard and produced great results. And as the case with many others before me and today, Mr. Jenkins and his ilk said sc--w you. Meanwhile, the two-legged snakes, family members and ever-shrinking legion of sycophants blissfully flop around in the increasingly pot of boiling water.

This ship has already hit the iceberg and is sinking at a faster rate than it was during the disastrous regime of Mark B.

The 3-book series on AI will not save this company, nor will the line-up of summits in Canada will not save this company. It is too late for that.

To all you good people still stuck on this garbage scow, find a life-raft now. Because if you thought marketing campaigns featuring scary muppets, goats and bland superheroes were bad, the upcoming Canada-is-a-trusted-player-in-AI campaign will “elevate” your opinion of those disasters.

Canon Middle East, Central & North Africa, UK & South Africa Layoffs

Canon Middle East, Central & North Africa, the UK, and South Africa are facing massive layoffs. After 13 years with the company, this is something I have never seen before. The new HQ leadership is pushing for maximum profit, and the result is a wave of layoffs across multiple regions.

ACOM Reduces Workforce by 27 Positions

The Arkansas Department of Commerce (ACOM) is eliminating 27 employee positions. These cuts stem from reported funding issues and mismanagement within the agency. Federal officials previously warned one division about excessive spending and labeled it high-risk. Lawmakers discussed the layoffs and questioned potential racial bias in the selections. Affected employees will not receive severance but are eligible for re-employment consideration.

Tyson Layoffs Signal Broader Beef Industry Issues

Tyson recently laid off nearly 5,000 employees. These cuts impacted beef processing plants in Texas and Nebraska. An Arkansas expert links these layoffs to broader beef industry issues. The U.S. has its lowest beef cow population in 70 years. This trend could lead to more layoffs and plant closures.

Arkansas Unemployment Filings Increased

Initial unemployment claims in Arkansas rose last week. The U.S. Department of Labor reported this increase. New jobless claims reached 2,057 for the week ending December 6. This was up from 1,319 claims the prior week. U.S. unemployment claims also increased to 236,000 last week.

Is anybody else constantly worried about layoffs?

Even without any rumors, even without any announcements, all I can think about every single day is what's going to happen if I lose my job to cuts. I wasn't like this before, I swear. But with all the small and large cuts in the last few years, I think they broke something in me.

RTO and current board show toxic employer

After 15 years of time at State Farm, 3 CEOs, COVID, work from home, hybrid, and whatever comes next - I can safely say that this company is absolutely sc--wed. I dunno who in the chain: Farney, some random VP, or that consulting firm they hired last year thought it was a good idea to push us back to office more frequently - but at least be honest when you give us the reason. It’s micromanagement. Pure and simple. Don’t tell us it’s ‘collaboration’ because if that was truly the case they’d open operation centers again and push the former ops center employees into office.

I thought when Tipsord retired, we could go back to what we had under Ed Rust Jr. A State Farm where you were treated well, trained better, and could build a future towards a good retirement. Boy - did that not happen.

Farney has made it clear he portrays one heck of a down to earth boss but the truth is closer to a Hallmark movie villain. June 1 (in the middle of summer) parents and grandparents have to find people to watch their kids. And the company’s response ‘we got you a totally sweet discount - go check out this page in the intranet’. On top of that let’s talk about the costs of coming into the office. Virtual employees don’t pay for gas, don’t have to pay to go to work, don’t have to waste time commuting - but sc--w the rest of us. Worst career decision I ever made was leaving the ops center for a HUB for opportunity that never happened.

I genuinely hope Progressive pulls away, Geico passes us, and honestly Allstate (because they do 100% virtual). Maybe Bloomington will pull their head from the advertising backside and listen to employees again. Knowing this regime they’d pay a consulting firm who hires Arnold Schwarzenegger (at our expense) to tell them to be a good NAY-BUH to tell them we don’t like it - only to make us come in more.

FIS SUX! Highly Disappointed in our execs.

Need a class -action lawsuit against these id--ts! FIS mgmt. should be the folks leaving not the hard working class. I am betting we'll be forced to accept roles with Cognizant to keep a paycheck coming in only to get sc--wed within a year from now. Betting it is the way FIS gets around paying severance packages and Cognizant will get their cut. I am highly irritated with the manner if which they handled their business, and we are all being lied to by managers saying they had no idea, when we know they were included and had likely had to sign off. Deals like this don't happen overnight this has been in the work many many months, pushing a year and I hope they remember karma is a !@#$%

Fall of the traditional Dell server

Dell only cares about storage followed by AI servers, nothing else matters. The traditional server business has almost been destroyed and I am guessing that it will soon lose its number one standing in the industry. I am certain that Dell does not care and the people associated to these products will eventually be let go. SAD!!!

Just a Reminder

AC's a walking lie. Every word out of his mouth is garbage—nobody believes a damn thing he says. He’s not a leader, he’s a joke. Terrible speaker, zero tech knowledge, just hot air and buzzwords.
And yeah, he’s right there helping ship our jobs to India, nodding along like it’s no big deal. But he’ll never own it—he’ll just smile, lie some more, and keep his cushy spot while the rest of us get sc--wed.
He should be the one getting the pink slip. Not us. Not the people who actually know what they’re doing.

Pharma Giants Cut 22,000 Jobs in 2025

Large pharmaceutical companies collectively reduced their workforces by over 22,000 in 2025. This contraction occurred as the industry faces a $300 billion patent cliff. Many firms implemented cost cuts and layoffs to maintain profits. Pfizer, Novo Nordisk, and Sanofi were among those with significant reductions. Conversely, Eli Lilly and Amgen notably expanded their employee numbers.
