Thousands of layoffs - outsourcing

Comcast began yesterday the start of a campaign to eliminate thousands of frontline employees. This came after months of reassuring praise from higher ups that frontline employees would retain their jobs during the company’s transition. Thousands of jobs in the north east have been terminated and are being outsourced to India and the Philippians. While this began in the north east region, every region will be affected by the end thousands of employees will be out of work come January 1st. If they told you that your job is safe, it is not. Those selected to stay are also not safe as the company plans to release these employees sometime in late 2026.

Q3 Earnings Report: Record Profits, Reduced People, and AI-Assisted Gaslighting

We are proud to announce third consecutive quarter of record-breaking profits, achieved through a bold trifecta of financial wizardry, workforce shrinkage, and algorithmic optimism.

While revenue soared thanks to strategic offshoring and the deployment of Eliza™, our AI-powered job shrinker, we also successfully identified 25% of employees as suddenly “non-performing,” despite their actual performance. Truly remarkable!

As a result, we are thrilled to reward our top talent with a generous 0 to 1% merit increase. That’s nearly enough to cover one Starbucks™ venti and a half tank of gas—if you drive a scooter— and you drink free coffee!

The firm attributes its success to:

• Eliza™: Our AI chatbot trained on 1990s legacy system coding and HR performance feedback communications (oh wait, what HR communications?)

Eliza now handles 80% of client interactions and 100% of employee feedback loops. She’s programmed to say “I hear you” while flagging your sentiment as a compliance risk.

• Force Ranking 2.0: Inspired by medieval jousting, our new performance system pits employees against each other in a Hunger Games-style meritocracy. Winners get a 1% raise; losers get a “growth opportunity” as future Wal-Mart™ greeters.

• Leadership Transparency: Our executives remain committed to open communication, as long as it’s pre-recorded, legally vetted, and delivered with a catchy British accent. When asked about the disconnect between profits and pay, one EC member replied, “We’re not shrinking the pie—we’re just slicing it with AI precision to help our associates.”

Analysts speculate that the profits may stem from a combination of deferred (no longer available) severance packages, strategic ambiguity, and a new revenue stream called “Emotional Tolling,” where employees pay to access their own feedback.

In Q4, BNY plans to expand its “People Optimization” initiative, which includes:

• Replacing exit interviews with $5 off Subway™ coupons when ordered online in the app
• Offering stock options in the form of NFTs shaped like pie charts (if Goldman Sachs CEO "DJ D-Sol" - David Solomon approves)
• Launching a new internal podcast: “You’re Not Fired, You’re Just Misaligned”

In summary, BNY’s record profits prove that when you cut enough people and obscure enough truth, even the balance sheet starts to believe the story. How's that for AI/ML! After all, nothing says ‘transparency’ like a frosted glass conference room where decisions are made by people you’ll never meet, about jobs you no longer have.

Streaming Tech and etc

Okay, I never post on here, I usually just lurk. I work in finance, so while I don’t know all the HR specifics, I do know a fair bit.

Firstly, a lot of what’s being said on this forum is complete nonsense. Honestly, it’s been flooded with people who clearly aren’t staff and don’t know what they’re talking about.

Secondly, yes — changes are coming. Everyone knows that (if you pretend it's not, you are an id--t!). There are major shifts ahead for streaming tech, which was under VH. In the short term, reporting might be moving to PW, but don’t read too much into that! From what I understand, PW isn’t actually taking over streaming tech. Reporting lines don’t always mean much.

And let’s be real- just because DE says he “believes in streaming” doesn’t mean he believes in the staff already working here. We have to accept that LE's son would rather outsource than build and justify an internal team. - He wants his investment back at some point!

Effort

If you're still giving 100% to Chevron, it's time to ask yourself: why?

Show yourself some respect and match their effort—which is basically zero. Some will say, “But I have a strong work ethic.” That’s admirable, but let’s be real: they don’t care about you.

Would a company that cares:

Slash mental health coverage during a mental health crisis?

Lie to its employees about the future?

Protect executive perks while laying off the people who actually do the work?

Call itself a “proud American company” while offshoring thousands of jobs to India?

No? Then stop pretending they deserve your loyalty. I’m on minimum viable effort until this so-called “leadership” is gone. They’ve earned nothing more.

SLT sabotage

How does this SLT look itself in the mirror? Long time, bleeding red Xerox people let go today while all the C level execs grab a raise and pad their exit plan. Congrats to Steve, Pastor, Mirlanda etc for running an icon into the ground. Re-invention is horsesh*t. Xerox is dead.

What has Andy Jassy done? Let's see..

  • Silent and regular layoffs! Fired and rehired new employees for less for the holidays.
  • Took a peculiar dump on the principle of Customer Obsession.
  • Mandated RTO with apparently no planning.
  • Pushed gross profit to AI data centers.
  • Violated rights of disabled workers.
  • Dismissed Microsoft and Google AI as ‘hype cycle’
  • Forced people to uproot their lives, relocate.
  • Gave $8B treat to Anthropic.
  • Took cumulative compensation of $500 million.

Everyone’s Gone!

This is the third time this week I got a bounce back email from someone who is no longer with the company is this the beginning of the end!? Tmc is brutal and moral is bad under her being president are people just quitting or getting let go? I already have been talking to friends who work at NB and Converse and the news about PNA is bad with wholesale accounts.

Let me guess - the best went first?

It’s always the experienced, skilled, and competent people who are shown the door first. Being older only makes it worse. It just proves that no company truly values expertise, hard work, or dedication. If they think they can run things with cheap labor and inexperienced replacements, let them try. We’ll see how far that gets them.

KPMG Cuts 195 US Audit Staff in Fourth Layoff in Three Years

KPMG has cut 195 people from its US audit business to counter low employee turnover rates and changes in how it conducts its core business.

Employees learned earlier this week of the layoffs that hit just over 2% of KPMG’s US audit workforce, according to a person familiar with the company’s operations.

More layoffs are to come and will most likely continue next year. :(

I had a frank talk with my manager this morning, who is a long-time friend.

Asked if I wanted a "retirement" package, as layoffs will continue until there's profit. My manager may get the cut, but will try to get me on the cut list if I want a package. VPs are dropping hints to management that this might be the last opportunity to get nominated for a package before it goes to HR formulas.

Also mentioned that there's not much future for the younger ones here at the moment, as they're offshoring much to lower-cost geos. Thus, if anyone gets a good offer, don't wait; just seize the opportunity and move on. I can't see light at the end of the tunnel for the near future.

Asked about the $5B Nvidia deal. Basically, I think it's a forced donation, and there is no clear direction on how to execute it yet—too many meetings without a runway. Our dev team is gearing up for this, but $5B won't get very far. If funds run dry, this may get moved to a lower-cost geo or ZBB.

Also, they said that there will be light at the end of the tunnel, but not in the near future, and I'm not sure how many of us will fall off the wagon as we travel along. Thus, the personal anxiety and stress may not be worth it.

Was 10/15 that bad??

Was today October 15th really that bad? Yes, it is sad people have lost their roles (unless they wanted to of course) but I have only heard of a handful of names. From previous posts you thought there would be 1000+ Anyone know total number of colleagues who left us today?
