Three of Los Angeles’ longest-serving TV anchors were abruptly laid off Wednesday as corporate owner Nexstar slashed jobs at KTLA.

The cuts included longtime weekday morning meteorologist Mark Kriski and veteran midday anchors Glen Walker and Lu Parker, along with weathercaster Kacey Montoya and reporter Ellina Abovian, according to NewscastStudio.

The layoffs are part of a broader restructuring at Nexstar Media Group stations in Los Angeles and New York.

Lancaster County newspaper to change hands after more layoffs

LNP | LancasterOnline is just one day away from a new chapter in the history of the 232-year-old newspaper.

On Thursday, the news operation will transfer from its current owner Pennon, to the nonprofit Always Lancaster, which is led by David Greene, a former NPR journalist.

But, on Wednesday, the newspaper reported that 11 of its 107 employees (about 10%), including five members of the newsroom, were laid off on Tuesday.

Its Thursday, Oct. 9, announcement indicated that most of the cuts will occur at the company’s New York offices but that there also will be layoffs at its offices in Des Moines; Birmingham, Alabama; Chicago; Stamford, Connecticut; Seattle; and Los Angeles. Some employees who work remotely also will be let go.

The company did not disclose how many would be cut at each location, including Des Moines, and a layoff notice had not been posted on the Iowa Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, or WARN, site as of Thursday morning.
