Nobody talks about how job hunting starts to eat at you after a while. You send out applications and hear nothing, and eventually you start questioning your own abilities. I used to know what I brought to a team. Now I'm not so sure. How do you hold onto your sense of self when the market keeps rejecting you?

I applied tons of Dallas, Florida Market but none was being get updated or not being called. Are these just plain BS posting?

I have applied to 200+ jobs in the past 1-2 months and I’ve heard nothing back, not even rejections. Where are people applying for jobs and actually hearing back for interview requests? I am a Business Analyst with a data skillset.

So, now that reviews should start coming back, what low % are we looking at this year for ‘above meets’ or whatever label they’re using now? I’m considering posting out to a lower level position. My thinking is if they can’t pay me for the additional workload I e taken on I might as well just work a lower level position that actually reflects my salary and make life a bit easier on myself. Anyone else thinking the same?

Four years in and my last raise was only 2 percent, but a recruiter just reached out for a similar job that pays 15 percent more. It’s frustrating realizing staying put can cost you this much. Makes me wonder if loyalty to one company is really worth it anymore.

How many of you have experienced this?

I know this is not layoff related, so feel free to ignore it, but my current role and environmental in the BGCO feels toxic. I want to look at other BGCO roles and was thinking about the advanced solutions team. Does anyone have any insight into that team or know if they are considered a part of Dans future plan? Are they likely to have less layoff impacts because of what they do? Is the environment a good one?

I'm getting so tired of this. As if it wasn't hard enough finding a job as it is, we have to waste time on all these placeholders or whatever they are.

HP is the only experience I have on my resume and no one wants to hire me

I gave up on this place a long time ago. It's just the paycheck, and not exactly one to write home about. I've been working really hard on finding something else. Compared to Amazon, the grass is greener elsewhere by definition.

If you don't get promotions or raises after 2-3 years, just leave. The traditional career ladder is pretty much dead, and the best way to get a raise or promotion is through job hopping.

I'm not even going to bother to wait. There might not be many, but there are available remote jobs in my field and I plan to apply to every single one of them. I'm not staying around for this cr-p.

So many people are going for same job. Some jobs I’m overqualified and recruiters think I’m not going to stick around. It’s rough out there!

Has anyone found a job yet after being laid off (doing similar type of work)?

To say I'm unhappy with how things turned out would be an understatement. I've been looking for the past few months and a few leads are looking promising. I'm worried though about leaving this soon looking bad on a resume. Is it better to switch now than stick around for a while for the future?

I've only been here for a few months, and a fantastic opportunity at another firm just landed in my lap. With this job market, I know how lucky I am, especially since this is a role I've wanted for years. While my current job is fine, it doesn't compare to this new offer. How bad would it look if I left so soon after joining? Especially long-term on my resume?

With jobs moving to Mexico and India at lightning speed, I'm sure companies like PepsiCo have a solid plan to ensure US consumers can still afford their products. I mean, who needs a thriving middle class, right? Guess we'll just have to rely on robots and AI to buy all the stuff. Every year there is more hiring and pushing of jobs to Hydarabad. I heard from a colleague that in the S&T townhall, the VP Strat was gloating on how finance function moved all roles to Hydarabad (tongue in cheek laying off US workers).

Seriously though, how do they plan to sustain growth without a strong US customer base and more importantly money in their pockets? Do companies like PepsiCo have a Plan B to deal with the impending doom of a cash-strapped US consumer? Do they just assume people will magically keep buying their stuff despite having no income?

Chevron is a great company to work for if you want to impress others with your résumé. Do not work for Chevron if you want job satisfaction. You are not a human. You are just a number and you are disposable when they want to pay the stockholders more. Great company to invest your money in, but definitely not your time as an employee. My time here will only be as long as it takes me to secure a better position elsewhere.

I was contacted by a recruiter trying to hire me for a contract position at Optum that would make less than me and sounds a lot like my job now. It’s a position with almost the same name but works with my both my Medicaid care plan and another. I’m always worried about layoffs but should I be super worried?

I know update the resume and hit LinkedIn. Any advise from others who have applied? I am a hands on IT engineer in the HPC (high performance computing) team. Linux, Python, Kubernets, monitoring, etc.

I know plenty of folks here who stay at CVS because there is nothing close by worth jumping to. I get it, the area makes it tricky to move on. I feel that pressure too, like I am glued in place. It wears on you when the job is rough but the options are thin.

No matter what your end date is? I already sent out about 50 applications. I know some people are taking some time to recover, but I'm too scared to wait.

I hate having to look for a job at 55. I have a huge problem with interviews because I can completely tank them every single time, no matter how much I prepare. The thought of having to face another one makes my stomach twist and my anxiety spike, and I dread every second leading up to it because I know there’s a very real chance I’ll blow it again. I have only been with the bank for 5yrs and I don’t know anyone who has successfully moved from WIM to the CIB side. I was wondering if there was “wall” not to hire anyone from the WIM side.
