"Big minds" in small places

Why do we keep these big guys with fancy titles, big egos and broken personalities around?

These walking jokes doing menial work that can be done with AI could save some bucks to pay out royalties instead of being insulted by some hillbilly day in and day out.

Ge-z, they even avoid hiring competent people because they will get the job done compared to their endless string of lame excuses.

Is still this place being managed by anybody with integrity?

Was it always this bad?

Maybe I’m naive, but I joined UHC in the BT era and my first town hall was one where he announced everyone was getting $50 to the UHC store to buy some swag. Then it was the new floating holiday. Just felt like the all employee meetings had energy and excitement and I felt like UHC was a great place to work.

Since BT’s death, it’s felt like a black cloud over the entire org. Like we’re in a free fall. Constant layoffs. Cutting employee benefits. RTO handled so poorly. Never accepting questions at the town halls and all employee meetings.

Was it always such a sh---y place to work, or was last December the catalyst for all this?

So that is why there is no salary raise

Because first we had to spend it on penalty.
Next year, because we had to spend it on restructuring.
Next year, because we were not done with restructuring yet.
Next year, because it was tough year.
Next year, because we need to restructure again.
This year, because we URGENTLY NEED A NEW LOGO and another AI bull...

This is comedy gold

Delusion of disconnected DXC leaders

What a f ing joke, Drum on a Town Hole says i know what everyone is asking about pay, so to get rid of the question, if applicable to you be paid sometime in March dont know dates speak with jenny ragger. Youll fall of your chair if you listen to the replay.

Wtf doesnt know dates not interested, knows employees have voted up the issue to the top.

Who gives a shiite about the new brand and AI pipedreams when you dont give a f about employees.

This company is now trying to b5ll its way as a AI outfit, good luck..

Made it through round 2, 3 rounds left

2 days into the ridiculous new Pepsi plan. 3 to go.
Hey, how are we going to hit plan next year. I’ve got an idea that I think is great. Announcement goes out on Monday about a Reorg. Then let’s fire 15 to 20% of our employees, doesn’t matter if they’re good or not. Then, make people wait up to 5 days to find out their future and offer them a take it or leave offer. Destroy moral and motivation to move the company forward.
What a great idea. That’s why they make the big bucks!

I’m worn down to the bone

I’m in my late forties, I'm already drained, and the idea of pushing through another decade or more of the same feels suffocating. I’ve put too much of myself into this job to walk away easily, but some days I catch myself almost hoping they make the choice for me.

Does anyone else feel like they were lied to about their role?

I’ve been here for a bit now and it’s almost funny to go back and look at the original job posting when I first applied for this job. It’s criminal how badly they misrepresented the role here. You do the elaborate, unnecessarily long training, and then bo-m, you’re in an absolute grind of helping old people with tech problems and being a punching bag for frustrations for most of the day. You quickly realize that this is nothing like you thought it was, and even different than what was presented early on in training. Very different from the image that was presented in the interviews and offer letter. Just fun to reflect on this sometimes.

Layoffs by the numbers, once again

From everything I’ve seen, the only real criterion was the bottom line, which usually means we’ve lost a disproportionate amount of talent. A lot of teams are going to be even more crippled than before. I’m not exactly looking forward to all of us having to pick up even more work to cover the roles that just disappeared.

The King is "visiting"

So rumor has it King Kobi will grace us with his presence next week. And of course we have to look our best, appear professional. Why? He literally zooms through the office in his entourage of sycophants, without a glance, smile, or nod to the ACTUAL workers. Why do we have to "dress appropriately" for someone who has zero interest in looking at us? He really doesn't see us at all.

Wtf fidelity

0.5% raise AFTER being an exceptional performer????

I got much higher raise when I was SP last year.

Yes the higher bonus was something I expected.

But negligible increment seems like a strategy to keep employee on their toes and live in uncertainty about their future bonus.

My manager seems to be the biggest snake, how the he-l does base pay raise work????

Regional Award Ceremonies are Kaput

Well, another Edward Jones long standing tradition has met it's end.

Regional award ceremonies will now be conducted during a week day morning instead of a nice ceremony where you can bring a spouse.

Maybe its too expensive now for the little people to be honored? Wonder if TAP trips are next?

Fear-based management gets rewarded

Why does Wells Fargo continue to promote managers who run teams through intimidation? It makes no sense to me that people who rely only on yelling and threats are seen by those higher up as high performers, but apparently they are, because it keeps happening.

Too many underperformers

Dell continues to keep employees who barely contribute, and I can't figure out why for the life of me. People coast through their jobs and still get the same pay and benefits as those of us working hard. Getting rid of actual low performers and keeping capable staff would improve both morale and productivity instantly.

1.1 million layoffs so far this year

Let that number really sink in. I always rolled my eyes when people told me to "just be happy you have a job" while I was complaining about all the issues we face day to day, but seeing numbers like this makes me understand, at least a little, why they say that.

Any struggling with the new unassigned seating?

I know our field folks will say that office workers are a bunch of cry babies, but I am really struggling with the new open seating environment that we went to post-reorg. Employee experience is an important way to keep people motivated, and Chevron not being willing to give me a permanent desk where I can keep a few things have some pictures of my kids says so much about how they care about employees. I have never felt more like a number.

I'm not naïve enough to think they ever really valued us but I don't think it's too much to ask for office workers to have a small bit of space for continuity for ergonomic safety, and so we don't have to lug our stuff home every night or jam it into a locker.

Let's save a bit of money by cramming more onto a floor, meanwhile c-suite bonuses continue be astronomical.

Want to invest so little in me? Don't expect extraordinary effort. Because you have demonstrated over and over that we are all expendable. And when other companies come knocking, I will think long and hard on if Chevron deserves my loyalty.

Olympic Games for Managers and above

What if we had Olympic Games for Managers and above? Categories would include:
1- Reporting your dubious achievements through rose tinted glasses
2- Schmoozing your peers and superiors while neglecting your own department
3- Running your team ragged while having little to no impact
4- Promoting as many unqualified people as possible
5- Running around like a chicken with its head cut off
6- Failing up

Do you know any potential gold medalists?

Nuerovascular !!

Currently at the Irvine plant. Demand has been extremely low for months. A round of RIFs already happened a few weeks ago, followed by an extended manufacturing shutdown where most operators have been forced onto unpaid leave after exhausting PTO. Leadership has openly stated their current strategy is essentially to “wait and hope things improve.” Production numbers continue trending downward, and it feels like another wave of layoffs is imminent. Morale is very low and confidence in management is basically nonexistent right now. Just had to let that out lol

I used to genuinely like my job here

Now that feels like a foggy memory. It was never perfect, and I never expected major career growth. Advancement was already limited when I joined. But things were better organized, more efficient, less harsh, and at least somewhat logical. Doing a good job actually meant something.

Today it’s a drag, with constant chaos, growing obstacles to helping clients, and the axe always spinning overhead. Any motivation, encouragement, or respect has been stripped out of how leadership treats employees. I honestly think they’re counting on most of us being decent people who still try to do our jobs responsibly, because there’s no external incentive left. The only thing keeping anyone dedicated now is personal ethics.

Isn’t it all about Trust?

Thinking about Dan’s fireside chat on Friday I’ve come to the conclusion it boils down to whether people will trust him or not and if they believe him or not.

Let’s be honest he’s not big on details…so it feels like a leap of faith right now and can people move on from 15000 layoffs and that effectively the same people are in charge as a year ago

RTO bringing back old burnout

Now that they forced everyone back in, the stress levels are rising fast. People are exhausted from commuting again, and half the office is talking about looking elsewhere. Add the constant layoffs into the mix, and you have a recipe for a disaster. It feels like leadership learned nothing from the last few years.

LinkedIn suddenly full of inspiration

Right after the layoffs wrapped up, my LinkedIn turned into a wall of inspirational posts, most from managers who said nothing to their own teams. To say the timing is tone-deaf is an understatement. How can you post cr-p like that when so many people under you are suddenly jobless?
