2025 Bonuses - Retail gets 150% - Everyone else 50% - 75%

We work for one company, Retail can't function without IT yet every year they get 30% - 50% more bonus payout. This year will be an even bigger slap in the face with IT getting less than half of Retail along with a measly 2% merit increase, promotions canceled, American IT jobs displaced to India, and layoffs in Q1. Why pretend RTO is for collaboration? It just makes leadership look dishonest.


How do bonus payouts work for layoffs in January

If you get laid off March through Dec, AFTER they paid you the bonus for the year before, HR will pay you a prorated amount of the bonus for the CURRENT year.

But people laid off in January or Februray, if your last working day is before the cutoff date (the date you have to be employed by to get your bonus for 2025), what happens then? Technically you are no longer employed at usb on 2/27/26 the cut off date.

DO they

  1. give you 100% of your target bonus from 2025 only (since there's nothing to prorate since 2025 is over)
  2. give you NOTHING for the whole year from 2025 and a small prorated bonus for 2026
  3. both of the above 1 and 2 combined

Ideally #3, but #1 would be ok also. But it better not be #2 because they would be f*d up.

If you think about it, if they lay you off in January and fk you over, you would have been paid more** if you were laid off late last year instead of early this year.

USAA Members receive $3.7 billion in financial rewards in 2025 - Big Fat Lie

What a bunch of lies! Facts below:

The $3.7B number includes $450 million in zero-interest loans as part of government shutdown program. That is a loan, members are expected to pay it back, you cannot include the full amount, the most you can include is the interest cost that has been waived.

Honor through Action $500 million over 5 years. You cannot include the full amount that you “plan” to deliver in next 5 years. Just include the amount that has been contributed this year.

These two are obvious lies from the report on our website, I’m sure there is more fluff that is included in that number. I bet the real number is much smaller.

Good thing we are not a public company so no one to keep us honest!

Follow the money.

This begs the question of how budgets were managed in such a way to not only reduce bonuses and promotions but eventually cause mass layoffs.


Anything Positive?

Is there anything positive at all for US employees at this company outside of having a job? I know the boot lickers will all say be thankful you have a job and accept gratefully every crumb they throw to us, but there is literally nothing to me to make me want to go the extra mile. No assigned desk, 4 times in office a week, most likely a garbage bonus, more layoffs to come. We just keep getting MW'd on over and over again here!


I’m sure gonna miss those town halls

I am really going to miss those town halls with Charlie ‘Sharp as a Marble’. He was so inspirational when he took the canned questions from the Indians in the audience and answered them with utmost poise and professionalism. He and his big boys club will surely get a big bonus this year because of all the people they let down. Way to go Charlie, give yourself a pat on the back.


Did my recruiter lie about bonuses?

Joined BNY as a senior associate full stack developer in the collateral area in February. My recruiter told me bonuses at that level are around 10%. My VP coworker said she gets 10%.

I've seen some posts saying because I got 10 RSUs in November/December that I won't get a cash bonus. Is that true?


Community service hours count as in office?

I am trying to make it to bonus day in early February. Only have 3 carry over PTO days and that only gets me until MLK week. I do not want to go into office as an hour away. I also grabbed all my personal stuff from office and do not plan on going back.....I know PTO of 4 hours meets the 3 day a week goal and exemption me on 8 hour a day requirement. Do 4 hours of community service meet the same 3 days and 8 hour requirement as well if use 3 a week?

Looks like we get 16 hours of community service hours at start of year which would get me to February..(I know they won't prorate these days when I turn in notice but would do PTO). Also, would they try to get funds back for USA floating holiday and Personal holiday if I use them before quitting/ retiring?

How many lived below their means and invested wisely, planning for life circumstances and natural occurring layoffs that take place? People rather buy the latest I phone today instead of real estate parcels later. LOL

Any idea what the end of year company performance score will look like? Most people are saying expect cr-ppy bonuses but a few have said that the money saved from the cuts will be used to retain those left behind?
