New job blues

I started working at Cisco last June. At first it was a great opportunity but last November my team moved under a new director and things are not going as they were when I first started. My coworker moved to another BU and he has been here for 9... — read more

Too much fake news on this site!

There are too many posts on here stating there ars LR's all over the place. If it's not over 1000 people it's not an LR it's just human capital management. Q2 results will be poor, but there won't be a big LR then there is no point. There will be a... — read more

Glamour and show sells more here

Found that being a part of this organization people with glamour and show sells more than real work . 1) Most VPs and directors spend hours together in parlors and gyms then in the office. 2) Run some projects for visibility with pomp and show and... — read more

Turned down.

Anyone else being turned down at the first gate when looking for a new job? I've got a solid CV and 10 years at Cisco in sales. I've been snubbed by 3 large SaaS and cloud companies following the first screening calls. One seemed very concerned that... — read more

IT Carnage next two quarters?

Rumors are swirling that a 10% staffing cut is coming to IT over the next two quarters. Anyone else hear this? Not sure how much work we can take on from all the previous LRs not being backfilled. Workload getting insane.

Tweets and letters to Trump

Why doesn't everyone affected and or angry with what Cisco, a highly profitable company, has done send Trump a Tweet, email and letter telling him how you've been affected and that Cisco is replacing American jobs with foreign workers domestically... — read more

Cloud Layoffs today

150+ people laid off today. Average age being 39 and the median is 41. I believe this is the same group that was LR'd over the summer. Wonder if anybody is still there or if Cisco is conceding the cloud.

AppDynamics - A great buy or not?

Is it a good buy that compliments the Cisco offering or just another great growing company, Cisco will destroy during the intergration and with its terrible sales execution on acquisition? Is Cisco trying to play in too many areas, to the point where... — read more

Cisco Employee Morale

My 2 cents. With the "people deal" or as I call it the "people squeal" Cisco has severed the link between employees and their managers. There is no longer a yearly appraisal where goals are worked towards , attained, not attained or partially... — read more

Think before you sign

The details regarding a California court ruling last week against Cisco's motion to deny an employee's right to a jury trial should serve as a wake up call to everyone seeking employment, whether at Cisco or somewhere else. The bottom line is that... — read more

US layoffs called off.

After careful consideration the ETL have decided that instead of laying off another 1000 people from the US, they will have a Hunger Games in the car park of building 25. Last person standing gets a directorship!

D-Day in UK is 24th Jan.

Not sure of H-Hour. Be prepared - Bangalore torpedoes armed, webbing tight and all pouches closed. Collect your money and move on.

Thanks Cysco

I was hit in Sept, 2017, I believe this is due to age that I was 40 last year, but I think this is a very suitable time to leave that I can still find a job to extend my career instead of 45 years later. I got a very very good package that is totally... — read more

Let the World Know What Happening.

I know for a fact there is a directive from the highest levels to lower the average age of Cisco and so does anyone effected by it. The trade press will never write anything to publicise this as they could be sued and secondly they rely on... — read more

Cisco Reflections

I was laid off in Sep 2016. There was on reason given. I was told that is was not a performance issue. I was told, by my manager, that he was handed a note (from his manager) that essentially had my name on it and he was told to read the specific... — read more

State of U.K. Theatre

Today's news has left me and at others in shock. To promote this type of person to arch leader is just bad logic. Not surprised business is so bad. Anyone got inside track?

L/R Underway

Uuugh...just got hit. I was notified yesterday..sounds like another big one.

Failure after failure

Cisco seems to be a sinking ship. Nothing the ELT does seems to make things better. In the mid-to-late 2000's, the (then) Global Government Solutions Group produced a customized version of standard Cisco gear that included US non-export encryption... — read more

More layoffs in the U.K.

If this is Cisco's Cloud strategy to combat Amazon/Google/Azure, I think it's time to call your broker and sell. http://blogs.cisco.com/cloud/multicloud-world

How Congress might crack down on H-1B abuse

Under his legislation, any company paying H-1B workers less than $100,000 would have to show they couldn't hire Americans for the same jobs. Existing law has a similar requirement but sets the threshold at $60,000, a level established in 1998, and... — read more

Contractors on furlough for rest of the quarter

Contractors in the collaboration group have been put on furlough for rest of the quarter. I am not sure if this is across the company. I wonder if more layoffs are coming next quarter.
