Re-Joyce count down...

Well, that was fun, more value of the company obliterated in less time then you can chat the GPT. So many mistakes and fumbles...

Countless bad hires
Endless RIFs
Missed Quarters after Quarters (more like Y/Y misses)
Unlimited amount of Fuchsia bad fashion purchased
Mediocre acquisitions
Not retiring but got the BOOT
No longer the all female C-Suite bunchy bunch
Woke beyond belief
Endless RIFs (again... and again..) ± 1,000 people let go or MORE
Hustle in the Bustle
Off Shored Jobs - ±850 or so or MORE
6.2Bil of Value Reduced to 1.9Bil of Value
Precipitous Stock drop - 56% (or more) in two years
Endless more RIFs
Did I say terrible HIRES?

What a legacy, like a pinnacle of a legacy, like an empire of dirt or sand in the Sonoran desert.

At least she learnt how to spell AI

LOLOLOLOL..... Later!

10 year Anniversary of ACT (2016)

As we come up to the 10 year Anniversary of ACT 2026, We can look at Intel so fondly of how well it has blossom (into a flaming pile of tu-ds!!!).

Curious to those who left during ACT 2016, how has life been after your departure? Is the Grass truly Greener on the Other side? Do you miss those yearly focal reviews? Do you miss those time-consuming Meetings? Do you miss the BS shenanigans that Intel is known for (aka Constructive Confrontation, or just Confrontational without the Construction? Kinda like IDC!)? Or the Empty promises from Management in QGS after every quarter? (Just like Intel Foundry :) )

Feel free to share your thoughts and feelings. Remember, its a safe space, even from BK. (Hopefully he didn't show you one of his drones).

A load of Kwap

Did anyone else notice in the Kwapcast how they're already starting to soften the language about RTO?

It was indicated that the reason they didn't go for a 3 day RTO is because they felt like they'd only be able to get people to do 1 and it was suggested that by going for a 5 day RTO, they'll be able to get people to do 3.

Hold the line, ladies and gentlemen. I think Bill D's nonsense will blow over.

It’s all a game and you are all pawns

What is at stake when you work for Pearson?

Companies like AWS, Meta or any FAANG and mostly other companies for that matter, ki-l your job when they either fire you or do mass layoffs.

In contrast, working at Pearson, they ki-l your own career! Most people are either ignorant or overlook it. The stakes are very high with low pay when you work for Pearson. You are literally low balling your own career, your prime working life for a company that is highly unstable and no growth!

NASA’s 1977 computers aboard Voyager are still working in interstellar space

When IBM dominated. Sadly now, not any more.

https://www.popsci.com/science/nasa-voyager-computers-video/

From the video embedded in the article, decent amount of IBM equipment shown, but the highlight of the video is from 7:10-8:49, showing an IBM punch card machine in action:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_bqc76_3xU

Also in the video, gotta love the mention (4:04-4:28) of the fact that no one but one guy who's left knows how a lot of the old equipment works because all the rest of them have been laid-off.

Slack Awards

The personalities of slack at Nike:

  1. JR - responds to every and each question in COP and AI channels

  2. DM - pretty much has her own store in Alt Class

  3. JM - posts every shoe drop in sneaker channels, the good and the bad

  4. Van - everyone getting heart broken over drops that have a lower win rate than SNKRs

  5. EV - daily complaining that people aren’t charging their cars or stayed over time limit acting like it will make a difference

Can’t imagine the amount of time wasted in some of these channels.

What else?

State of the swoosh

The fact that this is one of the only “safe spaces” where people feel comfortable speaking openly about the company and its culture says everything about why there’s no real path to recovery. There’s no room for dissent or different perspectives. Leadership is bloated and top heavy, more focused on its own reflection than reality.

People argue about JD, DEI, or whatever the issue of the day is. That misses the point. Every leader has been handpicked by the founder. The culture starts at the top, and it’s been reinforced for years. Nothing changes unless it comes from the outside or fresh perspectives are actually given a shot.

Good ideas go nowhere. Marketing clings to its budget and congratulates itself on campaigns while product sits on shelves. We used to set trends. Now we’re following Carhartt, Crocs, and Adidas. We spend seven figures on campaigns while some kid with a phone is creating viral content. That’s the competition.

You’ve got a retro CEO, a retro CMO, a stale CFO, no COO, and now the CTO is gone. So who’s actually running the ship?

Target price: $35 by the end of 2027.

Follow the Work Letter Information

Please post any information you have on the Follow the Work letter such as what type of information is included and what it asks you to do.

What locations does it list as your new office address? How much times does it give you? Have your teammates received one?

Serious responses only please. This is to help others and myself understand what is going on at T.

Great Press Exposure

Lots more news articles and post views generated about this RIF than the total AI tour. Great marketeering.
Add 10k more evangelists to promote the company at their new employers and it’s a total success.
When do companies fail? Too much debt? Negative cash flow? Or when the customers don’t believe they will be here next year?

All kidding aside.

Seriously. How is it possible to get out of the hole we are in? Can't lower prices, Customers don't want to come back to us, Can't gain trust to get new customers, Verizon is coming in. I wish Dennis or management would comment on how this company will start making money again! I have been here for a long time and I can't see a way to get out of this hole Altice put us in.
