I recently got piped out of my favorite place to work not. They were trying to fire me at all costs. I was alienated, isolated and made ti feel unwelcome. I truly hated to come in everyday and see those persons. I was ready to leave and accepted my date. No matter what I did the supervisor had something negative to say. It was all part of the plan. My design software was removed and I was told I could not get it back. I could not do my job without it. It was a relief when I failed the pip. I did not sign the pip and was told I would be fired if I did not. I was terminated for performance. I got unemployment because I got fired. So now I am working at a smaller company. The place is heaven compared to that shith ole exxon. I can do meaningful work and it is appreciated. I feel like part of a team and the place is not toxic or dysfunctional. I make about 70 percent less and I got 4 weeks vacation. The insurance is better than exxons was. The most important thing is my mental health. I feel better now and I don't dread going to work. The company needed an employee that could innovate and improve processes and testing methods. I have found a place that needs and values my talents. I had a horrible time at exxon. So the grass can truly be greener at another company. Too many employees get stuck because of the high pay but is it worth you mental health.

Anyone ready to give their notice...
Now that the bonus pay has been posted. Or is it safer to wait till Friday once it hits the bank account?
Avoid
- pressure & performance review every 6 mo.
- a lovely 8% pip annual quota.
- Work life balance is just horrible.

Weekly Fast Food - Chick-fil-A and the likes
Are they still bringing in fast food for inside reps? You’d think they’d try something more thoughtful to keep people energized and engaged during long days at their desks.
Is 11 days in office the real cutoff?
Factoring in vacation, sick days, holidays....how many days do people actually need to reach before getting flagged for not complying? I'm aware that eleven days equals 100 percent.
What It Means to Be a “Modern Seller” at Dell
Spend five clicks minimum on SalesChat to prove you’re engaged.
Help train AI systems designed to eventually replace your role.
Accept shrinking commissions so executive comp stays intact.
Stay chained to a desk eight-plus hours a day, regardless of performance.
Bounce between internal tools and dashboards to signal productivity.
Operate inside an expanding web of apps built more for monitoring than selling.
Daily workflows dominated by internal systems, compliance tools, and activity tracking.
An environment where optics often outweigh outcomes.
Operate primarily as a quote generator - processing pricing requests instead of driving strategy.
Go “all-in” and be grateful you have a job.
Old Dry Frye
Dell has managed to drain much of the satisfaction from the work we do. The things that once made coming in each day worthwhile have steadily disappeared, and the overall experience now feels increasingly driven by employee exploitation rather than mutual respect.
How to stay motivated?
Serious question. How are fellow employees staying motivated after low to zero expected rewards?
Merit this year
So, now that reviews should start coming back, what low % are we looking at this year for ‘above meets’ or whatever label they’re using now? I’m considering posting out to a lower level position. My thinking is if they can’t pay me for the additional workload I e taken on I might as well just work a lower level position that actually reflects my salary and make life a bit easier on myself. Anyone else thinking the same?
PTO
Oh yes they have sc--wed everyone out of there hard earned PTO. Now salary people can't take there PTO until its accrued, even though store managers want to know when they are taking there PTO ahead of time. How are salary managers going to take there time off if it's not accrued? Cause we have restrictions, can't take time off during certain times of the year. Guess we will be taking vacations back to back. What a joke this place is. Sc--wing there hard working people out of there PTO.
I have the biggest idgaf attitude
Not entertaining sh-t anymore and not doing anythjng extra. As someone forced wfh, im not reaping the benefits of any hard work and have watched peers who have no competent cell in their brain get promoted. Now idgaf and will do bare minimum. Staff wants to fu-k off. Oh well i’ll mark them meets regardless. Doesnt matter anyone when hi---r and his hr crew falsify performance anyway so why not let them fu-k off more than they do
I hate having to chose silence
I’ll write out a full response pushing back on a bad decision or unfair comment, then sit there staring at it. Pushing back sounds reasonable in my head, but I also know full well it's an easy way to get labeled as difficult by management. So I delete it and stay quiet, not because I agree, but because protecting my reputation feels safer than being right. It's exhausting having to police myself like that.
Stop giving away free labor
I often hear people complain about long hours and I can't help but think it's their own fault. Nike will take whatever hours you freely offer them without complaint. I do my job well within my scheduled time and my reviews are fine. Protecting your personal time is ultimately up to you, and remember there's always another job out there.
Work life balance is impossible
It's painfully clear that the culture here openly rewards people who live and breathe this company. If you have family commitments or outside interests, well tough luck, you're at a clear disadvantage. The unspoken expectation is to be always on and available. If this is not true for you, consider yourself lucky.
Everyone I know is looking for a new job. No one is happy at ExxonMobil.
And I do mean everyone
I want to take a min to appreciate the WLB here
Looking at this comment on r/cscareerquestions "Literally everyone and their grandma is going for roles with good WLB.
Since a lot of people have been completely burned out by how companies have been treating them the past few years and want a break. Also, the number of relaxed companies has been decreasing. So it's very high competition for extremely low supply. Wouldn't be surprised if there's only a couple hundred roles that fit this criteria in America right now.
Your best bet is to go for a company with a non-toxic culture, but still expects a decent amount of work. There's barely any true vacation homes left."
I just want to take a moment to appreciate the environment here at Teradata. Management here expects a decent amount of work but isn't going to break your back and that is something that is truly special <3. Just want to share something to remind you all that we've got a great culture & WLB here- all while contributing to a mission that is still important.
Ask me anything if you have questions, I'll monitor this thread for a bit (:
New schedules in multi
6 years at Wayfair and Im honestly ready to quit they have me working a closing schedule with split days off. I have a family to take care of and this feels like a kick in the teeth.
Missing the cart people delivering treats
Anyone? Since I have to come in everyday and no one sits in my corner except me (why am I here) at a min having them come by was like ok…. Guess I’m at least here to receive that 😐😂
"stack ranking" or "relative grading" system
I am questioning the legal and ethical implications of this 'relative grading' framework within a publicly traded organization like WF. I would like to know where employees can formally inquiry about the compliance of this policy or file a grievance regarding its implementation. Beyond the legalities, this system reflects a culture shift that prioritizes internal competition over sustainable performance. It raises a critical question for all of us: is this an environment that truly values its talent, and is it a place where long-term career growth is still viable?
WF has formally adopted a 'Stack Ranking' (or relative grading) framework. This methodology is a documented corporate policy, with comprehensive manager training sessions to standardize its implementation.
For example, when a manager uses a 200% (just example here) performer as the baseline, several things happen:
Burnout: When "doing the job" is no longer the standard, and instead "beating the best" is the goal, employees eventually hit a wall.
Toxic Competition: Colleagues stop helping each other because your success might lower my rating.
The "Moving Goalpost" Problem: If everyone improves, the 200% bar just moves higher, and someone is still stuck at the bottom regardless of their actual output.
I wish us all a good weekend, but it's going to be a rough one
I can only imagine how the people cut this week are feeling. The rest of us will probably spend it consumed with anxiety over next week. About which we still know almost nothing. What a way to treat people.
Work tracking - work phone
Does taking meetings from the phone and using outlook on phone to check email count towards activity usage?
I do this frequently when commuting in the train and am wondering if this contributes towards activity usage?
4 days a week RTO
Thoughts? It's insane how they are tracking too.
No pay raise but want to go skiing?
No. I won’t be going skiing. I will be at home, on the couch watching YouTube Tube or cutting the grass. Or some other low cost activity. Or sitting around thinking and planning how to increase my income.
I am very stressful and kind of depressed since the 8 hours rule is enforced
I usually go home around 2pm to avoid traffic and continue working between 2:30 to 6:30. Now I have to stay until 5pm and feel stressed out due to the heavy traffic. Since I stayed until 5pm, no more work at home.
My working hour is less than before after the 8 hours rule is enforced.
I won't complain if I'm let go
I certainly don't wish for anyone to lose their job. I just want my severance so I can be on my way. This place has been toxic and utterly exhausting. There's only so much you can endure before it erodes your well-being. There's a whole life I've been missing out on for years. Don't ever let work monopolize your mind and time. The sacrifices never truly pay off in the end.
No good options
I'm stuck in the worst kind of limbo. Staying means more of this stress, but leaving without a plan is scary. The fact that I can't decide which is worse says everything about how bad things are here.
$58
stock is at $58, at what point do people realize extra effort is required to dig out of this. even 1 weekend a month would be a huge help to turn this thing around. let's go !!!!
Which orgs/teams are hybrid/remote?
I know they exist. I see the people in webphone. So, why are they the exception? I see job posting with “5 days in-office”, but clearly, that’s not always the case. Applying internally, are all the jobs genuinely gonna be 5 days in office still?
There are so many opportunities I would love to see through, but I am not gonna commit to another job with 5-day mandatory office. I can’t do it anymore.
The more the stock dives the more layoffs will come..
Despite 14 billion in profits in the last year. Its not out of the question for the stock to go to low 200s. Nothing matters to this company other than 1. Stock price 2. shareholders.
Hard work does not get rewarded along with all the extra hours you put in. Do the bare minimum like Peter in office space, you will get same results. A layoff, oh and sc--w that little dork Sandork Di--oani Mr 100x
401k match reduced
It looks like the rumors were true. Employee match on retirement was reduced to 3.5%. That flew right under the radar.
Minimal/no raises or bonuses. Employee match ~50% of what other large companies offer. RTO wasted time and expense for no reason. No major benefits. Even OnePass has become outrageously expensive. From a FORTUNE 3 company. Absolutely disgusted.
Typical Performance Review BS
Got back a mixed review because one of my coworkers is mad that I stopped working nights and weekends. lol. i also need to step up my game in the creation of our team’s decks, because I seemingly can’t read my director’s mind well enough when given no direction. At least I have a good attitude!! F-ck this place all the way to he-l.
There is hope
I left 2 months ago for a competitor and didn’t even get so much more in salary, but I do not regret it at all.
The culture out there is so much better in many ways. No one is breathing down your neck and expecting you to work every moment. I feel respected and heard here. I hope you guys make it out too!
Why is USAA telling me I can't work in a another financial services job during my lay off period?
They sent me a disclosure telling me for 90 days although I am currently within a lay off period I am not allowed to work for another firm.
First question is how tf would they even know if I got another job?
Isnt this illegal?
This place is the worst place I think I ever worked, in a way im glad the lay off came.
What is Devon’s work culture like?
Before Coterra there was Cabot and Cimarex. Cabot had a very different work culture from Cimarex similar to other Houston companies. It was laid back and less formal.
A real investor explaining how “market-based” talent actually works
Worth reading:
https://www.inc.com/leila-sheridan/kevin-oleary-loves-why-his-companies-will-never-force-a-return-to-the-office/91291726
Kevin O’Leary, a real investor with actual companies laid out why forcing people into offices is a losing strategy:
“If you’re trying to say to people, ‘Oh, you got to work in an office,’ you’ll just get the bottom quartile of people who have no choice.”
5-Day RTO
Yes I know HD has nothing to do with our business and what we do. Just FYI, they announced mandatory 5-Day RTO. This may have already been posted, if so, my apologies.
CVS top 100 best places to work?
They havent been reading The Layoff much.
It’s funny when you realize how pointless RTO actually is
I forgot my laptop at home and didn’t realize it until I got to the office. It’s kind of hilarious how there’s literally no work to do without it. No systems. No tools. Nothing.
Which exposes the flaw in the whole RTO and “collaboration” argument. If presence alone created value, being here would still matter without a laptop. But it doesn’t. All the actual work still happens digitally, exactly the same way it does at home.
If the office adds no functional capability beyond what a laptop provides, then forcing people to commute just to open the same apps on a different desk defeats the entire purpose.
