NMC Outsourcing Jobs to India

The NMC is currently sending jobs to India and forcing NMC employees to train them. No surprise that VZW is making its own employees train their replacements. The field and regions are going to love Habibi calling in for an issue and not being able to understand them.

Columbia College Cuts Six Tenured Positions

Columbia College recently laid off six tenured faculty members. This action addresses declining enrollment and a growing budget deficit. The college has now cut 54 full-time faculty since January 2025. The layoffs impacted the Schools of Communication and Culture and Design. Affected faculty will receive pay through the next academic year.

NPR Reduces Employee Count After Buyouts

NPR implemented staff reductions following a round of voluntary buyouts. The total workforce reduction amounts to fewer than 30 employees. Most employees accepted buyouts, but 10 journalists were laid off. The content division saw a cut of approximately 4%. These actions address financial pressures from declining revenues.

Sales quotas as a means to persuade people to leave

I have been a employee of Oracle for 10+ years in Asia Pacific - many jurisdictions in APAC have failry strong labour/labor laws.

Sales targets have over the past 2-3 years increased substantially, to the point one could reasonably claim employee harrassment or "setting the employee up to fail"

Question: Would you bother trying to fight FY27 targets as un-reasonable, or leave with your head held high and maybe return when the job market favors the employee rather than employer?

I'm as ready as I'll ever be

I put all my ducks in a row to the best of my ability, but I'll be honest here, I've started thinking that being laid off would be better than staying here. It's not normal to have layoffs all the time. They want us to think it is, but it's not. The job is not supposed to be the source of so much stress. It's really not. I remember a time when it wasn't, even here. And I'm just so tired of it.

Syracuse Diocese Expects No Layoffs Post-Bankruptcy

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse expects no layoffs or parish closures. This comes as the diocese emerges from bankruptcy proceedings. Many other dioceses have faced closures and staff reductions. The Syracuse diocese filed for bankruptcy in June 2020 due to s-x abuse lawsuits. A $176 million compensation fund was created for abuse survivors.

Strong Reviews, Solid Delivery… Then You’re Suddenly ‘Not a Fit'

BNY’s “transformation” machine keeps producing the same outcome: people doing real work get tossed aside, then retroactively labeled as “not a fit” to justify decisions already made in a conference room weeks earlier. The script never changes — strong reviews, solid delivery, then suddenly you’re recast or discarded as the inflexible obstacle to whatever new operating model changes leadership is worshipping this quarter.

And the part about “other opportunities”? Classic BNY fiction. They don’t offer options; they don’t offer severance… only a storyline to protect the org chart. Meanwhile, the people who kept the place running are left trying to rebuild careers while BNY congratulates itself for “modernization.”

Your experience isn’t an outlier — it’s the business model. Employees give decades; leadership gives euphemisms. And the saddest part is how many careers are derailed or forced to end earlier than planned… not with recognition, but with a carefully crafted narrative that erases the truth and replaces it with some delusion of BNY's visionary leadership and innovation.

Tone Deaf

It’s amazing to me how dismissive the ELT has been with our RTO mandate. We know from other companies that this initiative is often a huge failure and unfair burden on employees. Women are almost always impacted more than their male counterparts. My experience in HR has been one of the worst I’ve seen in my career. The communications are incredibly poor and borderline disrespectful. Since the initial announcement, I have not seen Suzan answer a question directly, but rather punt the heat and responsibility to her leadership team. She’s also stopped doing Q&A altogether in meetings she’s led. We are less than a week away with almost no questions answered, and our human capital division meeting today was so poor that it actually raised more questions than answers. Rather than discussing direct concerns with Monday looming, we spent time celebrating an arrogant partner’s records from 25 years ago and discussing employee discounts. We still have no word on assigned floors or desks. We still have no solutions for parking. Unbelievable.

How is Cigna Hiring?

I don’t understand how Cigna is hiring for customer service agents when a mass layoff was just done, along with possible upcoming layoffs with IFP/Evicore? Like why not move over the agents who are at risk of losing their job to the customer service department the company is hiring for? What’s the point in hiring others when you have internal people with experience? Why are we hiring anyways with current layoffs? I don’t understand the moves this company is making. Nothing makes sense anymore.

What they don't tell you about loyalty and hard work

I used to honest to God believe that if I worked hard, stayed late, and gave everything to my job, I'd be valued and protected. I've learned the hard way that this isn't true. Ford will happily extract every ounce of energy you've got, praise you for your dedication, and then fire you with no notice the moment it helps their bottom line. And they won't feel bad about it. They won't even think about you again. Hustle culture's a sickness.

The culture I signed up for doesn't exist anymore

There was a time when I genuinely believed this company valued its people. That feeling is long gone. Now we are just waiting for the next layoff announcement and bracing ourselves to train the people who will eventually replace us. I won't even mind all that much when my time comes.

Another closure

Layoffs are planned as a major grocery store plans to shutter one of its locations on the Oregon Coast. Sixty-nine Safeway employees will lose their jobs when the store located at 2220 N. Coast Hwy in Newport, Oregon closes on July 26.

It's unrecognizable

I remember walking through the halls here when I first started and feeling genuine excitement about the place. The energy was real and people seemed to actually enjoy being here. Over the years, I watched that energy fade as the bank stopped treating employees like partners and started treating them like just another expense. Now it's completely unrecognizable.

How long do you have to be in your current position before you can apply internally again?

Been with the company for 5 year, first 4 1/2 years in the same role. Applied internally for another role and got the job 6 months ago. I see another role that I think is a better fit for me, am I allowed to apply or do I need to stay longer at my current role?

Safeway Newport Store Closing, 69 Employees Laid Off

Safeway plans to close its Newport, Oregon store. This closure will result in 69 employee layoffs. The store, located on N. Coast Hwy, will shut down on July 26. A Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification detailed the job losses. Some affected workers may transfer or continue employment after the closure.

Terex Closes North Bend Facility

Terex plans to close its North Bend plant. This decision follows a recent company merger. Terex merged with REV Group. Up to 117 employees may face layoffs. The plant is located in North Bend, Washington.

Not sure that things will improve any time soon!

We've been weighed down by margin pressure quite a bit. General population will continue to be VERY cautious given all the sh-t that's going on in the country and inte world. Plus this case of a lingering fallout from the botched Albertsons merger - it's a messed up mix of bad things. Now, I wander, how much suffering will be directed towards the employee. I hope for the better, but i am increasingly losing that hope.

Are you all ex gov workers?

I have to say .. after working at gainwell for a VERY short period. I am shocked by how lazy and ill informed the staff is. I sat in on meetings on making things better, faster, stronger and 99% of the staff had no idea about how the work flows operated. None understood the data and how to interpret it. You all just sat around with your thumbs up your @55s. Some were knitting. others didnt understand ports or APIs or anything related to data or applications. it was "i do what my boss tells me" instead of making things better. I told the director " i will fail with all of these mo--ns because they are clearly just gov staff hoping to receive a paycheck". Christ people, learn what AI is. learn about K8s. learn about cloud. learn about coding or work flow. at least offer up solutions to make things better for your fellow co-workers or the people that use your service. if you dont it will all be outsource to NTT or other service providers. You all su-k .. i am not happy to admit it but you seriously do. You all do remote work sitting around. Try to make things better and learn more. if you learn you are more marketable. I quit because it was comedy how much wasn't documented, and how much was unknown. complain all you want about pay raises or the leadership but honestly, you all su-k @SS. learn and practice people or your jobs are GONE!

Acme Edgewater Outlet to Close, 115 Workers Displaced

An Acme Markets store in Edgewater, North Jersey will close. This closure is scheduled for around August 15, 2026. The supermarket is losing its lease at the Edgewater Commons. As a result, 115 positions will be eliminated. Albertsons, Acme's parent company, aims to relocate affected employees.

You’re special? NOT!

Why is it that more than half the employees on my floor come in for 2 hours then leave? Do you think Executives don’t know you’re trying to manipulate the data they are collecting for RTO? I’d be careful. It’s not worth it to lose your job over it, is it? Of course, the choice is yours. I need my job.

Internal positions i interviewed for no longer available

So, I was told two of my positions i interviewed for are no longer available. Just FYI, any one who was interviewing for a position prior to the restructuring will most likely get an email saying: due to business needs, this position is no longer available

Coaching Plan

I was just informed that it’s being recommended that I be placed on a coaching plan. I wanted to better understand the expectations and implications of this process. Specifically, should I view this as developmental support, or does failure to meet the outlined metrics potentially put my employment at risk?

The damage that bad managers leave behind

I have worked for some difficult people over the years, but the two worst managers I ever had were both at Chevron. I am still dealing with the anxiety and stress that came from working under them, and I am not sure I will ever fully recover from those years. My current manager is okay, but I'm scared she'll leave and then who knows what I'll get stuck with again.
