I used to think the bad treatment was accidental
Now I think they actually enjoy it. The cruelty isn't a side effect. It's the goal.
I don’t recognize this place anymore.
L7s, L8s, and L9s have forgone years of experience and nuanced knowledge that their teams’ possess in favor of having their egos stroked by fluff words from a machine that placates whoever is prompting it.
Many people who have been on businesses and can advise on actionable things to make them grow are being gaslit, ignored, and essentially told “shut up and do as you’re told”.
Of course it’s understandable how and why a corporation thrives on hierarchy, but having leaders who are NOT experts in their field giving vague opinions with zero willingness to learn about individual business does not make sense from a business perspective much less a personal one.
They expect us to decode their ChatGPT strategy and do backflips and upheave our lives to mind read and materialize what even they don’t know. This isn’t just a tool anymore, gen ai is running this company.
Long gone are the days where we were guest obsessed and interacting with the our shoppers to understand their needs. We now create product to appease one or two people.
Praying for a wake up call to save this mediocre and spineless company. I used to love this job so so much. I want it to get back to the way it was when the guest loved us and WE THE WORKERS loved it here as well 💔
Sick to my stomach right now
This stress of Thursday is making me feel sick and reading the last post. Anyone else feeling the same?
No Love for Tenured Employees
Maurice and is cronies no longer care about tenured, experienced employees. From now on there will be no promotional opportunities for supervisors and above of they are not located at a hub site. Even if you have worked for the company for over 20 years, if you live in Marion, you're sc--wed. No promotion for you. Apparently, only employees in hub locations are now qualified to promote. I'm deeply saddened that HCSC has become such a cr-ppy employer and thinks so little of those of us who have dedicated so many years to ensuring the success of this company.
Have managers been asked to not be in touch with layed-off employees?
I know it is normal that managers cut off communication with their laid off reportees. My manager was in touch with me on a personal note all of last week after I was impacted, but is now MIA; won’t respond to my calls or texts. This is my first time being laid off (my postpartum brain isn’t helping me think straight). My manager was once my coworker at Nike and we always had a good relationship outside the office, so I am trying to understand if there has been an explicit directive by Nike leadership to not be in touch with laid off employees.
SAP to track AI adoption
I was told by my manager that SAP is launching a global AI adoption program and will track the usage of LLMs and other AI features on SAP products. They plan to coincide the launch with Sapphire so there will also be a big buzz about it. I bluntly asked if this is going to be used to determine one's performance and my manager said yes. Apparently, we are all supposed to use AI as much as possible in our day to day work and improve efficiency and productivity by doing more work in less time. Our area is deciding to add an area level performance goal that everyone contributes to but we are also asked to include AI in our other goals.
I really don't get it. Yes, I find AI somewhat useful in my work especially if I am researching something. But NO it is not gamechanging to my work. I feel so disappointed by this move that I plan to only use AI but not get work done because no one cares about work anymore and all they care about AI adoption. I feel like we are training our replacements. If AI is useful, why does management need to force everyone to use it?
Half of our management can't even use AI because they are too old school and because they only use German in emails and chats and conversations and AI is somewhat useless in German. Is this also happening in other areas now?
Today is the day!....

Value...? Or value trap?
Less than a couple years ago, this stock was above $200 per share. Now, it's a little above $70 USD. Looks like there's been several key executive exits, a number of cost-cuts, layoffs appear commonplace at the line level, and the big one - a lack of topline growth. Other than some strong opinions about layers upon layers upon layers of management protecting management - the culture continues to appear as a bright light. That's a good sign, right? What's your take here? Time for a position...or time to wait it out...or keep walking? Is this company a value or a value trap?
Cheap necklace
Hey all, here again. My long tenured role within capital one was not fairly compensated. Amidst my rapid, unjust departure, all I was provided for years of high level work was a cheap necklace from capital one. It’s actually broken and is being held together by my hope and dreams crushed by capital one and their toxic work environment. A cheap necklace is the embodiment of capital one as a company.
Holy cr-p ODW su-ks
I should NOT have to watch a video on how to get time off entered. Why the he-l do we only have videos for training??? This is actually dog sh-t
Nike Did Not Have a Distribution Problem. It Had An Ego Problem.
Interesting take from Mastroberti Consulting.
Unfortunately, it fails to mention the cultural rot within the company and lack of leadership.

People are acting normal
And it’s freaking me out. Maybe most folks just live under a rock or are so numb / broken from being bossed around from the overlords up the chain that this just seems normal!! Either way it’s freaking me out. I feel like I am in some weird dystopian universe…
House of Fidelity
anyone speed read overnight???
so you are an unhappy high-performer!
when you tell people at wprk you’re unhappy, you think you’re putting the co on notice... like, im a good employee, i’m telling you something is wrong so go fix it before i leave.
but that’s usually not how it works.
your boss tells their boss. then everyone starts asking what’s up... and maybe for five minutes it sounds like they care about the problem.
but then all of this always flips...
because the problem you brought up is probably happening under their leadership. so now it’s not “what do we need to fix?” all of a sudden becomes “is this person becoming a problem?”
then come the usual labels. you know them all...
ur not a culture fit. probably checked out. might leave anyway. maybe we need a backup plan, who's covering for him, who else knows her work, etc...
and now the thing you complained about is no longer the main issue. you are the main issue.
meanwhile you’re sitting there thinking they’re working on it. but behind closed doors, they are deciding what to do with you...
because fixing a broken system is hard. replacing one fu--ing unhappy employee is sooo much easier for them...
so before you tell them everything, just understand the game. rarely feedback leads to change but, often, it just tells them who to plan around.
stay safe.
Would you buy a Ford vehicle? Like=yes Dislike=no
Curiosity poll after reading the “Is anyone else pi---d that Ford is giving A plan to everyone?” Thread. I’d love to buy what I work on, but definitely an ignorance is bliss thing. I know what’s wrong or ongoing issues, so I wouldn’t choose or recommend certain vehicles to friends or family. As a buyer you don’t know otherwise unless told so.
Feel free to leave your reasons why yes or no.
How much did Dell pay for this POS looking ODW Oracle Portal?
There's absolutely no Dell branding, it's straight out of the box, looking like it came out of 1980 design book, but this is Oracle's 2019 Redwood design that Dell adopted https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIyp1AWqsZM . It's absolutely horrific to look at!!
Even AI is in on the futility
Even AI is in on the joke Dell has become

I’m drivin’ in at dawn through the valley of the shadow of Death,
Where the layoffs stalk the highways like they’re huntin’ for my breath.
Every mile feels cursed, every billboard’s a lie,
Talkin’ “culture,” talkin’ “family,” while they watch us bleed dry.
They say “We’re building greatness” while they gut us from inside,
And the only thing that’s growing is the fear we try to hide.
We’re ghosts in the hallways, survivors of the purge,
And the bosses call it “progress” while they watch the profits surge.
We’re living in Michael’s Paradise —
Where loyalty’s a vice.
They preach about their values,
But we’re the sacrifice.
I walk into the office and the silence hits like doom,
Half the desks abandoned like a corporate tomb.
They tell us “Do more with less,” like it’s some holy command,
But you can’t build a future when you’re losing every hand.
The managers are trembling, the directors look scared,
’Cause they know the next email means none of us are spared.
They call it “realignment,” they call it “strategic,”
But the truth is pretty simple — it’s heartless and anemic.
Still living in Michael’s Paradise —
Where the workers pay the price.
They say we’re all a family,
But they don’t treat us very nice.
Now the CEO’s on stage with that polished little grin,
Talkin’ “innovation,” talkin’ “vision,” while the walls are caving in.
He’s flyin’ private jets while we’re drowning in the grind,
And the only thing he’s cutting is the people left behind.
So here’s to the ones who keep the whole thing alive,
Who walk through Death’s valley just to barely survive.
We’re angry, we’re tired, and we’re done bein’ polite —
If they won’t care about the workers, we’ll bring our own damn light.
Still living in Michael’s Paradise —
But we’re done payin’ the price.
If they won’t stand beside us,
We’ll reclaim our sacrifice.
JOMO
JOMO - The Joy of Missing Out —is the ultimate leadership flex. * It’s the joy of trusting your team to take "Total Ownership" of the talent lifecycle without you in the room.
Let’s stop rewarding "presence" and start rewarding "impact."
Who’s brave enough to decline that 4:00 PM "update" meeting and trust the team to handle it? That’s the BOLD standard.
Wise words from our world class chro!!!
At least somebody is speaking out
Evangeline Lilly is blasting The Walt Disney Company over the layoffs at Marvel, which saw their workforce reduced by about 8%.
“Shame On You for turning your back on the people who built the power you are now using to throw them away,” Lilly captioned her Instagram post.

Tech reorgs, departures and CTO absence
Lots of shuffling around of teams again and unfortunately losing some good people, then CTO is out on leave? What is going on?
Someone asked me recently if they should take a job at Exxon
I told them no, not unless truly desperate. The hours are long, the pressure is constant, and the company treats employees like they're disposable. Take a job here and expect to have no life outside of work. And to think that I used to recommend this place to people.
RTO
With more and more organizations going to 5-day RTO, I'd expect a mediocre, follow-the-herd company like Cigna to fall in lockstep within the foreseeable future.
Evanko's Town Hall comments about the wonders of having a "best friend at work" just seemed to be laying the foundation.
Anyone with educated guess and/or practical insight and willing to comment?
"Morale is going to take a hit"
Seeing article after article about how the latest layoffs will hurt morale at Meta is almost comical at this point. Morale hit rock bottom a long time ago, this just keeps digging.
Layoffs would mean someone would have to actually plan something
We all know that’s not happening.
403 Likes. Zero Conversations. This Is AT&T's Culture
Sitting in AT&T's open office today. No assigned desks. Five day mandate. "Collaboration" is the official reason.
The reality: complete silence. Cold shoulders. Headphones. Everyone either annoyed or running on fumes. The only conversations happening are between people who already knew each other before they got here.
Forced proximity is not culture. It never was.
McElfresh posted about collaboration last week and got 403 likes from 130,000 employees. The open office told the truth he won't.
And for the person who always replies "see you on the commute" congratulations. You've perfectly summarized what AT&T calls culture.
Two hours of traffic. A hot desk with no name on it. Headphones in. Eyes down. And a COO posting about collaboration from a corner office while the rest of us perform presence for a badge reader.
This is what market-based culture looks like from the inside.
ADO
IT is now a mess. What was a lightweight tool for cross-functional professionals for backlog management, tracking, discussion is now a mesh of complex of un related busy work. Leadership, don't know heads to tail. Decides to build a new layer of complexity and gatekeepers - calling these people RTEs. When will actual work be done with real knowledge ? But, no we have powepoint jockeys, and fake 2nd grade maths used in putting up ratios and calling them velocity, flow and cycle time. Try solving some hard problems for once.
Blowing smoke
It is hilarious watching all the smoke being blown about Kinetic winning all these women’s workplace awards…. Where are all these Women at in President and CEO roles? That is where it should be visible… otherwise it’s just a feel good smoke screen…
I thought that Ebay has turned the corner
after disastrous JD & DW. I thought that ebay was going in right direction, trying to chip away Amazon's lead.
But if the jokers in game stock buy ebay and they do their Mickey Mouse shxt who know what is next!!!
As an ebay seller that is concerning.
Ebay can't seemed to buy a break!!
Locking customers into the environment isnt a winning strategy anymore

Suggestion to Reset Middle Management for Longterm Success
If Humana truly has in mimd a goal to have the corporation to be successful, then I strongly suggest they do an across the board evaluation of all persons within the roles of Director, Associate Director, Manager, and perhaps even Vice Presidents of segments.
My suggestion is to fire all those that were hired many years ago in the past (and also recently) who are Cronies, Nepo Babies, and DEI hires.
Then, replace them with persons with the actual education degree for that field, that have the experience and training and past track record, and are fully capable of producing actual effective results that assist the company in reaching its strategic goals.
May the 5th, stick it to your leaders
Changing direction? Again? Is it funny now?
Unreal Communication
I’m a new director to Honeywell (4 months). I’m completely shocked my the lack of professionalism and communication skills. People don’t respond to meeting invites, ignore email, read texts/don’t respond and don’t call back. Free for all. The folks at the site only do what they want, no partnership with corporate functional leaders. Why has the culture devolved to this?
Don't be so negative! Don't work too hard and collect the paychecks!
It is a good place to work. Hear me out. The senior slackers and butt kissers have taught me well.
- It's a job with decent pay and benefits, but it's just a job.
- Put in the 35 hours a week. Don't milk it too much. Even if you work at McDonald's, you have to put in the hours.
- For those hot projects and rushes, put in the 40 to 45 weeks. Possibly, a weekend too. Collect the kudos, high-fives, and pats on the back; these will buy you slack when you need it. Don't forget to give some back too.
- No matter how you really feel. Just act friendly. Put on a fake smile and say hi. Don't be anti-social. Go the extra mile and ask if they have plans for the weekend or ask them how their weekend went. Pretend to care.
- Don't feel like going into the office for a few days. Want an extra day to recover from that long fishing weekend? Let your manager know that you've come down with something. Tell them that you don't want to come in and share it with everyone and that you'll work as much as possible from home. Even if you can, don't work those long hours at home. Put on a good act for a good show.
- Want to go home early. Let your coworkers and manager know that you're not feeling so well. What can they say?
- Don't be shy; give your co-workers and manager a kudo once in a while. Even if it's just a thank-you. It's an easy way to brown-nose.
- Dress decent. Dress for success. Dress for the job. Don't be a slob.
- Don't install the company apps on your phone. Trust no one.
- Never do personal stuff on your company laptop or devices. Do it on your own device. Don't give them the chance to track your activities.
- Never give bad feedback. Always pretend that all is positive.
- Always attend your meetings; this includes the company-wide ones. Never know who's tracking attendance.
Now you know how others survive, even if they have poor skills and are clearly not performing.
It's an easy ride. Enjoy it!
Now go to work and put on a good show. I do, and you can too! Practice makes perfect!
"Bid for absence" 1WD
Oh my goodness, just starting out with this one way bs, and now we don't request holiday or time off. We bid for absence! Ffs
We are so fortunate to have jobs aren't we?!
It's nice to be treated like a human
I hate this
I hate that nearly every Monday now feels like a question of will there or won’t there be layoffs. I hate that I can’t even relax and decompress on the weekend anymore because it’s always in the back of my mind. It just never really shuts off. This is not the Dell I remember, not even close. It’s become such an unrecognizable company these days.
RTO is largely a job cutting exercise and nothing more
WFH was a success during COVID and could be at any time, it's the person doing the work, not the location. We sell global connectivity yet we do not want to connect employees who are also customers. We all know right now it's a 'do as I say, not as I do'. I'd respect honesty; yet that is not what the top brass offer normally; it's usually smoke and mirrors.
If AT&T wants to reduce its footprint, what better way than making the employee provide their own office? Case closed!
@rw+1kqf86bry is 100% right.
Remote work doesn’t break company culture. Poor measurement does

Enough said.
