Another 10-15% layoff on the way

It was confirmed by our senior VP and it will be Intel-wide. No one’s job is safe. It will start after next week’s all company meeting and notifications will start in mid-August. You heard it here first.

Relax - we are too big to fail

Folks it's really bad in parts I agree but let's face it Intel isn't going anywhere for a very long time. If you want to stay, plan plan plan and figure out how you can fit in amidst all this disruption and upheavel. Moan away for sure for the sake... — read more

Interesting conversation with my manager

I’m grade 6, have grade 5 pay (comp ratio is very low), I get role modeling in everything insight, got ME back in April, today my manager said I’m performing at grade level 7. You can say how things are messed up.

This sit actually has a pretty small user base

Look at the number of views per post. They only occasionally break 2k per post and a lot never go past 1k. This is a pretty low volume considering Intel has ~125k employees. It is also pretty clear from the posts that a lot are from former and non... — read more

Where Will Intel Be in 7 Years?

Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) has been the rare semiconductor stock that has faltered this year. In fact, as of Friday, Intel was down 34% for 2024, even as the one of the largest semiconductor sector exchange-traded funds (ETFs) was up 42%. And the trend... — read more

Honestly I don’t get it

Many times people have complained our compensation is bad. Once I gave my resignation letter, they said what can I do for you to stay? I’m saying fix the broken compensation issue. If there is no money or revenue that’s higher management issue and... — read more

Too many voluntary departures…

I think way more took voluntary than expected in some parts… not as many as are needed in total, but enough that it seems likely that some reorg work will be needed. It is a mess…

Unfair and biased insights by manager

Got my insights today which was pretty unbiased and made no sense. I had completed all my OKRs but got partially on track and also developing in the ratings. Manager clearly trying to provoke me to move out or leave Intel. Is there a way I can ask... — read more

Intels problem

It is having too many employees doing a little work and everyone’s pay is not competitive. It’s better to have much less headcount and everyone is motivated to work really hard.

Its not that bad…

intel spends 16 bilion a year in r&d nvidia spends little over 8 bilion a year in r&d amd spends a little over 1 bilion a year in r&d… yep… https://www.macrotrends.net/stocks/charts/INTC/intel/research-development-expenses# intel also spends capx... — read more

Circling The Drain

Was so proud for so many years to work at INTC. When margins were 60%+, we felt untouchable. We used to laugh about AMD clinging to a meager existence… how the times have changed… So many still think we are that 60%+ margin company that will simply... — read more

Plural sight and Udemy license cancelled

If you need online resources to learn something, your manager need to approve and they will charge your cost center. All the companies expanding learning tools for employees and we are going backwards

I only work 8-4 (without lunch break)

Yesterday we had design meeting and 18 people were present to discuss how to do it. If they give me a competitive pay, I’ll do it in 10 days alone. But don’t do it since no work after hours is allowed with our poor pay.

Role model companies for Intel to follow

Here some examples of companies that will grow and thrive by removing the discriminatory practices and policies that were implemented when earlier leadership caved to the demands of a minority of the population. Intel needs to make the changes to get... — read more

Internal job posting is all about match fixing

I have seen many matching job profiles and in many cases hiring manager dies not even respond to your teams message query. Why do we even have these job postings? And if employees give worst ever ratings to leadership team what is wrong in it?

survey results

Employees loudly and clearly said our poor base pay and compensation is the primary issue. i dont know ELT are doing and say we are addressing lol. its plain and simple pay everyone what they deserve

due to cost reduction

they cancelled by work phone. It means no more on call or after hours or weekends support. yayyyyy celebrating lol I am not gonna answer non family related calls to my personal cell. simple :)

Do we have a clue as to target head reduction?

Do we know how many people volunteered this round? Which numbers beyond that would meet their target? Not that I would be particularly happy or unhappy about losing a job here, I just want to know what’s the wiggle room in which I can continue... — read more

When the ISP comes

And it will come, if history is any judge. Will Intel need to give any of that sweet, sweet CHIPS Act money back?

NVIDIA is a big problem for Intel...

Two NVIDIA HGX computers with Hopper GPUs that together cost $500K can replace 1,000 nodes of CPU Servers that cost $10 million for AI, scientific computing or data processing workloads. I do not see this getting any better for Intel is the... — read more

Voluntary layoffs… now what?

So, the voluntary period is now over. Those who applied and were accepted should have been notified… now what? It is unlikely that enough people signed up to satiate the needed cost savings, right?

Internal transfer process?

Applied to a job internally, someone reached out to me for more background info. Sent it, and later saw in Workday that I went from under review to not selected. Am I supposed to receive a rejection email in this case? Should I follow-up with the... — read more
