At least somebody is speaking out

Evangeline Lilly is blasting The Walt Disney Company over the layoffs at Marvel, which saw their workforce reduced by about 8%.

“Shame On You for turning your back on the people who built the power you are now using to throw them away,” Lilly captioned her Instagram post.

I really thought I was safe

For the past year I was cruising. Top ratings, visible work, direct revenue impact. I thought I was as safe as anyone could be. Then a scheduled call a couple of weeks ago happened and just like that, I was gone. So for anyone at PayPal who thinks their performance or relationships will protect them, think again. We're all just numbers. When someone up high decides your time is up, that's it.

Burn the house down

Putting this here to see if anyone notices/cares to comment. I’m a Uniondale employee, one of about 200. Various business lines where most are vestiges of the old Dreyfus business. It’s clear the greater corporation wants to reduce headcount by forcing this move while offering no financial incentive. The commute from Long Island to NYC requires a train and subway. We’re looking at an estimated $5,000 cost for that, nothing less than 90 minutes, some will have over 2 hours one way. These are good dedicated employees who are being tossed out. Sure, the jobs aren’t eliminated (yet) or offshored (yet), and as someone here posted AI = All India. The transition will be difficult at best. We’ll see if it’s tolerable, but no one really seems to care. The announcement was heartless, an 8AM teams meeting where KB proved again to be soulless. He read a prepared statement that took all of 4 minutes. That’s it. Most groups didn’t even have senior management in house to… well to lead by example. But we will do the purposeless exercise of feedback, complete the peak on surveys, attend town halls in order to hear how fantastic everything is. Sad that a corporation of this magnitude won’t offer assistance to keep people happily employed. Oh wait, I just received an email from KB titled Uniondale Office - Helpful Resources. It contained two links. One for a commuter benefits program where BK hires a company to explain/manage your ability to have a maximum pretax (fed only) contribution of $340/month to cover commuting costs. Something but very very minor. And don’t forget that our taxes will now increase because NYC taxes will apply. Another 2-2 percent salary increase would go a long way in meeting the extra cost as well as supporting the idea that BNY cares about its employees. In reality leadership cares about the next McKinsey project (how’s P-M treating you?) and publicity for the CEO. All hail the smirking emperor who had a massive pay increase on the broken backs of his overworked employees. Let’s see how they react to people agreeing to move but resign at the last minute.

Any truth to any of this?

One person says 500 let go last week
another says 2500

One says may 28th - 30% being let go
last month it was April 30th - 30% being let go

Can anyone please be truthful?

This site is worse than facebook for crying out loud...

Please post facts and stop trolling - yeah, I know REAL big ask on here!

Cognizant to Eliminate Thousands of Roles Globally

Cognizant intends to reduce its workforce in 2026. The IT services company may eliminate over 4,000 positions globally. This action is tied to its $320 million "Project Leap" restructuring plan. The company is allocating $270 million for employee-related costs. These costs include severance pay for affected workers.

Help me please

Laid off 2 months ago after 28 years with UHG. Devastating! All internal positions I apply for, immediately “they are pursuing other candidates more qualified”. WTH? I’m even applying for job grades lower than when I left & still the same responses.

I’m over 50, was let go as a grade 29, had all 4s & 5s rating every single year. Had a 5th level interview and they chose an EXTERNAL candidate for the role.

Are any employees getting re-hired? Any tips or resources you have?

Any suggestions for companies hiring Optum employees? I appreciate any insight or referrals.

Congrats! Most Active Page on Layoff.

I like to check in from time to time and see all the juicy gossip around this disgraceful company you call TransUnion. How's it feel to sit on pins and needles waiting for those layoffs? My currently doesn't have one entry on this site. As a past employee of TransUnion who put in 20 plus years of service to be axed by lay off which NO notice, not two week notice just a phone call between a director and HR that my position wasn't available but I worked from 11 pm to 2 am the night/morning previously when was my part no longer required was my only question? The company run by CC and his Neustar buddies.

Just as a reminder for those who work at TU. Quantity over quality when you work. Take your FTO as many as you can, at least 10 weeks. Take those long breaks Those two days in the office do the minimum, the 3 days WFH make sure you run errands, hit those gyms, quality time with families because CC and his teams don't care about you. You are just a W2 at the end of the day. Work those 8 hours and go home get off teams turn phone off. Unless you on-call then make sure you have phone only turned on during that time otherwise - manage your time, NOT TU TIME.

Good luck this week

Remember that it’s nothing personal if they let you go. Medtronic was here before you and it will be here after you, unless we merge with Home Depot to form a freak baby birthed from unchecked capitalism. The point is, the corporate machine doesn’t care about any of us. Good employees and bad employees alike get chewed up and sp-t out. You are worth more than whatever identity you have in this job.

Good luck.

Stock Foolishness: Wake Up Before It's Too Late. My Stupid Story of Camping Out.

All these posts about how fantastic it is that the stock is at 92. For those holding on, and not selling and diversifying into other investments, or aren't cashing out now; re-read this post when the market corrects. It will.

The best thing you can do is diversify your portfolio. Take CSCO profits now. Before it's too late. Take the proceeds, and simply invest them in simple index funds. Or; take profits now, and pay off debt. Mortgage. Car Loans. The future you, decades out, will thank you.

Yes, I had CSCO RSUs, CSCO Stock Options (the old Cisco Options from the late 1990s/early 2000s), and Cisco ESPP. Never, at any time, did CSCO ever exceed 25% of my total investment portfolio. Ever. I always took option and ESPP profits and rolled them into simple total market index funds. Max out Roth IRAs with the ESPP and RSU proceeds. You will thank yourself later.

Save your market gambling for using the Cisco Brokerage-Link function to day trade things like SPY and other index funds. Save the speculation for that aspect. Leverage Brokerage-Link functionality.

There is safety in being diverse. You are wasting a HUGE opportunity cost, by having an all-in-one basket, waiting to be all lost at the next correction, 2008-ish market meltdown, or CSCO stock demise. It is amazing yes it is at 92; but look at the curve of CSCO going back to 1990s.

Writing this as former CSCO, and living in a neighborhood with several CSCO friends, waiting for their payout, in their $750,000 homes, coupled to serious mortgages and BMW payments. Stop living life shackled to the speculation that this thing is going to keep running. Take your profits now and simplify your lives.

I was guilty of handing on too long to have options and ESPP accumulate, but then as things got very miserable with Cisco corporate ideology changes, I downsized my life financially. I felt shackled in staying because of a number on paper on what it could all be worth. I dumped the ESPP, the RSUs, and paid off all the debt. Then Cisco dumped me. All good, it was the best thing that ever happened to me. Now financially and more importantly mentally free from the whole game.

Writing this in hopes that somehow it inspires someone truly as miserable as I was at my last two years at Cisco to do the same. Now may be the time. Cash out. Get your life back.

By the way: AI play on it. Go put all your RSU shares, and ESPP shares, into ChatGPT. Go ask her how much you will get AFTER taxes. You will be astounded how much Uncle Sam is going to take. Another reason to take the money and run.

I hate this

I hate that nearly every Monday now feels like a question of will there or won’t there be layoffs. I hate that I can’t even relax and decompress on the weekend anymore because it’s always in the back of my mind. It just never really shuts off. This is not the Dell I remember, not even close. It’s become such an unrecognizable company these days.

India

congrats India, you won

you came in, started small, then grew

took over groups, director level and down, maybe 1 local US dude

then, took over VP roles

that's when it really went down the tubes

now....you got it all, you fired all the local long term local workers, literally all of them

hiring spree in ITC

while US workers wonder what hit them, wondering why

it's disgusting

it's anti american

but you won, congratulations, you won the over GT at the swoosh

but you also turned it into the massive unproductive and cost over run disaster

so you won, but you also lost

now you have it, what are going to do with it

pressure is on

you took it away, now what

we all know the answer

pendulum swings

the clock is ticking

we'll be back, and strong, and you will be gone

Castrol Digital Technology Vibe Check

To all Castrol colleagues, especially folks in Digital Technology, how are you guys feeling about the ringfence situation and the fact that you are being forced to move out of BP.

Do you feel positive about the future or are you polishing your CVs? What do you think about RD as leader and the org structure he shared recently?

Are you a victim of unfair scheduling??

Are you being scheduled:

Excessively early morning or late evening shifts?

Back to back closing and opening shifts ?

More than 5 day stretches?

Longer than 8 hour workdays?

Split shifts ?

Having hours cut suddenly to zero or almost no hours?

Asked to work while your on a vacation? (Salary)

Asked to go without a meal break?

Asked to take a two hour meal break to save payroll hours?

Asked to come in excessively on a scheduled day off?

Cutting certain associates hours, and giving those hours to a “favorite “ ??

Bye

As I leave, I’m choosing to focus on the people who made this place worthwhile: the ones who were decent, kind, funny, supportive, and human. You know who you are, and I’m genuinely grateful for the years we shared.

There were also parts of this experience I won’t miss, and people whose behavior said far more about them than it ever did about me. I’ll leave it at that.

To the people who treated me with respect and made the hard days easier, thank you. I won’t forget it.

Infosys Maintains No-Layoff Stance, Citing AI for Growth

Infosys CEO Salil Parekh confirmed the company has no plans for layoffs. He stated Infosys has not conducted any layoffs in the past year. Parekh believes artificial intelligence expands work opportunities rather than reducing them. The company intends to hire approximately 20,000 fresh graduates in 2026. Infosys is also actively reskilling its engineers to work with AI-driven tools.

Reading between the lines

If you look, you can see what’s going on. Management not really enforcing 5 day RTO. Snacks/eggs not being restocked. Soda/coffee/water machines taking days to refill.
The company is feeling the cost squeeze of offering those things now that they have to save for the new .
So they look away on you coming in 2-3 days, and you look away on all these amenities they lured you back with.
