Merger or Takeover?

Has anyone been watching Steifel? Their HQ is in STL, and rumors are flying that they're getting ready to sell or merge. They recently sold off their independent channel, but for no real reason. It had to be for more than debt reduction. The independent channel (industry wide) is growing while the W2 channel is floundering...

So its May 7th or 21st ??? What offices closed???

Just looking for some clarity:

What offices are closing and which date is the actually real for a rif. Either way I know we will have a big one prior to October due to the Stock Award being given that month. So obviously VZ will need people not here prior to that month. So Q2 or Q3 rif is in play. Will VZ wait till Q3 or is May actually for real?

RIF Trends To Expect

1) Rumors site starts getting more and more input/traction.

2) Big news media start noting potential layoffs possibly leaked by Dan and or his communications team. This lessens the blow when they actually happen internally and also starts painting a picture to the market. (Dan just noted AI will result in 20-30% unemployment for companies

3) Teams notified to work from home a week prior to the layoffs.

4) During a payroll week, Mon/Tues for Senior Directors and Thursday for the rest. The expectation amongst many well connected is Thursday, May 7th. VPs and higher are probably Earnings week w NDA. Probably will be same 15 min script for those impacted starting around 9am. And then all hands for folks remaining around 11am.

What else trends are anticipated here?

Bad week for the highest paid 10%

Word on the street from a credible source is that tomorrow they will announce the location cuts and on Thursday is when the top 10% highest base pay employees will receive their severance email.

Never understood why they make their cuts based on pay, when your top performers are the ones who are paid the most for a reason.

Functions 50% Cost Cut by 2030?

Hearing credible rumors from multiple sources this week that YL has set a target for functional cost to be cut 50% by 2030 from 2026 levels. Meaning all current reorgs are only a stepping stone cost cutting measure to be followed up in 2028/2029 with another round equally as deep. Please share what you know. promoted this year, feeling a bit vulnerable now.

The rumor might not be true. But why not offer voluntary layoffs?

They'll be laying people off left and right anyway. Sure, some people they might want to keep could leave first. On the other hand, it's not as if they've been working hard on talent retention. The only way it wouldn't make sense is if they've been planning to ramp up attrition. That wouldn't be a shocker, really.
